I Read the Whole Bible

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 341 People

    Yes.

I've read the bible cover to cover many, many, many times. I've also taken several biblical classes in high school and college. Sometimes I feel like I know more about the bible than the average church-going Christian.

    About 16 Times

I am currently on my 20th or so time through The New Testament and 16th or so time through The Old Testament. It is a goal of myself and a few other people involved with my church to read the whole Bible in a year. The reason I joined in on the effort to read the whole Bible in...

    Instant Confusion

After reading the entire Bible, I was so confused. The book is full of so many contradictions. The bible says Homosexuality is wrong, but then when you read somewhere else, it says "love everyone". Anyway, I think I'll just stick with my twisted morals.

    Pretty Interesting

I've read it a few times.  I wanted to know what the big deal was.  I think it's an interesting text, but the kernels of wisdom that are in there (and there are quite a few) have been lost.  The Bible is partly a chronicle of the early years of the Hebrew...

    It Changed My Mind.

It's ironic to me that a text such as the bible can produce so many mixed emotions from so many people. How can one book have so much of an impact. I guess it's because it is the Word of God and none of us can agree on who or what God is, or what He wants us to do. I was raised...

    And Still Do

I read it as a spiritual book and do not take it litterally. I feel it is symbolic in meaning and we can interpret it how we want. I feel closer to God and that is why I read it and have found alot of meaning and often I can relate to these stories and the people in them. It's...

You just have to do it a page at a time.  It can be done in a year, but take the time you need.  Each time you read through it, even without a commentary, you pick up something you missed last time.  I don't think I'll ever learn it all.  I've given sermons on...
