    Atari 1080 Running Emagic

I've dabbling in home recording since I was a kid - and that's a long time ago! - with my dad's Fergusson reel-reel tape recorder. (I bet you've never heard of Fergusson!) That was horrible - cheap & nasty mic, and very unreliable. But as a teenager, I played in a Gospel...

    It's Fun

I picked it up when I had just started college because I saw how fun it looked and I asked a couple friends if I could try doing it for a song or two.  I've been doing it since then. I have friends who record their own songs for their own demos, mixtapes or they do it...

What's up ya'll. Just seeing what everybody

here uses to record. I'm using a Presonus Audiobox 2x2 as a recording interface. Mic is an SM57. Using Garageband for the moment, cuz I'm too lazy/stupid to figure out StudioOne.

Anyone Can Be A Rockstar At Home

I remember in the mid 90s this very talented singer, keyboardist told me that one day, musicians would be able to record their own music easily at home and it would not be a full on recording studio, but a portable way to record. I didn't believe her because at the time we were...

I Forgot How Fun This Could Be

I was a touring musician for ten years with various 70's soul groups. But I have always wanted to record my own music and release it independently. My dream was long in coming, but now with all these computer based systems and online sites like ReverbNation, I have finally...

I Recently Started Taking My Poetry And Converting It To Tracks

I've always written poetry since I was 11 or 12. But it wasn't til 2010 that I actually had the idea to break some of them down to bars and convert them to music. Every track I've done or have ready to record is something in my life I've experienced that truly affected me. I was...

    I Record Music

I could never find anyone to play music with me and I was determined I wouldn't let that be an excuse to not making the music I wanted.   I already had a small collection of instruments I was learning to play.  I started out recording using a convoluted system of...

    Just For Myself

The woman that I am dating gave me an analog synthesizer for my birthday a few years ago. When I bought the new sound card I made sure to get one with breakout cables, and Cubase and a few other OS programs, so all I needed were a set of midi cables.I had had a few "songs" going...

    I Record Music At Home...

...and it might not be brilliant, or the 'next big thing' but it's a great source of enjoyment for me and a couple of mates who sometimes join me.     I'm a bass player who can only sing in certain low keys and thinks he can play convincing...

I use GarageBand to record my music.  Usually I just buy an instrumental karaoke track for a song, import it into GarageBand, and then sing over it wearing headphones, using the internal mic.
