I Rejected Christianity

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 109 People

I realized that I can actually defend not being

a Christian much easier than I could ever defend being one. The position one can naturally defend is what is true in one's heart. I don't think that I could ever defend Christianity the way I can defend my own unChtistian mindset. It just comes natural.

'Rejected' Is Such a Harsh Word...

...I'd be more inclined to say that I made 'an educated decision not to be'.   Although most of my family are not strictly religious, those that are are Christians.  As we're all white English, and Christianity is the dominate religion of this country, that's hardly...

I don't think I ever really did believe in

Christianity. Even during periods when I felt very faithful to Christianity, when I felt that I really did believe in Jesus as the Son of God, I still had doubts that it ever was really true. The feeling I got when I came to realize that I don't believe can be compared with the...

    I Use To Be Christian.

When I was a child I use to some Christianity school in Thailand. I use to be taught that I had to serve. And if I did not I would go to Hell. I always had doubts. I started to question about god when I was about 8 years old when it started raining hard and started to flood. A...

    While I Was "christian"

To be more precise I rejected people's interpretations of Christianity. I rejected the way mom taught me, the way the church and friends taught me. I walked away from all of that because it didn't bring me spiritual happiness. I felt like I was running around in circles, just...

    Bleh-ness

My entire family except my mother and I is Christian.  My great-grandmother the most, my grandparents and aunt and cousins less so. But my mom and I seem to be the odd ones out. I never really liked church when I was little - I mostly went to Sunday school because I was...

    Buddhist

I rejected Christianity after it had been served up to me as the religion of choice at birth. I was actually baptized Catholic. My parents grew up Catholic. After my parents divorced my mother had to leave the Catholic church but her parents went and so when I was a...

    Bad Experience With Christianity

I was born into a roman catholic family and went to a catholic school until the 2nd grade. Since my grandfather died, my family hasn't attended church services regularly. That combined with me being home schooled allowed me to question religion and soon I began to drift away from...

    Harsh, But True

I know that we are supposed to be accepting, and tolerant. I know that I wish people would just accept me as I am, and they usually do. Maybe this makes me a bit of a hypocrit, but atleast I can admit it. I can see all the errors in my opinion on this matter before I even get...

It Was Just A Song What Did It.

I sat in church next to a person I believed had ruined my life when I had to sing "I can see in you the glory of my King." I could deal with a lot but at this point God and the person next to me became one and the same. www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEy8wE8BQXU I decided there is no...

If You Want To Be Religious, Enter Not The Gate Of Any Organised Religions.

If you want to be religious, enter not the gate of any organised religions. They do a hundred times more evil than good, because they stop the growth of each one's individual development. Study everything, but keep your own seat firm. If you take my advice, do not put your neck...

I Used To Be A Christian Now I Am An Atheist

I started questioning some things from the bible when i was probably 13. My family is extremely religious. I was in church at least 3 times a week and heavily involved. I was brainwashed to the MAX. It was never about happiness for yourself, it was about being happy when "god...

My Journey Out Of Christianity. (and Into Paganism.)

I grew up in a "church" that was really more of a cult. The pastor was a bigger control-freak dictator-wanna-be than Hitler himself, and he would stand up behind the pulpit and name everyone's "sins" (most of which were committed by his own wife, I might add,) and he would be...

Back in the day I was a Christian,

I would go to church every weekend and participate in church events. I volunteered at a bible camp and was baptized. I was active in the youth bible study. But the longer I dwelled my eyes into the bible and looked out at the world for what it really is, I then realized...
