    Part Of My Collection

I collect "antique phones' as they have always been a fascination of mine. My collection started with a "candlestick phone" that my uncle found at an auction, and knowing my fascination with phones, bought for me about two decades ago. I added many phones to my collection...

I Sure Do! My Grandma Had A Rotary Dial Phone Until 1998!

Rotary dial phones were more widespread during the communist rule here in Hungary (and even they were a rarity), and my granny didn't throw hers out until she received a new one for the christmas of 1997.

    Rotary

My parents still have their beige rotary dial phone.  They keep saying they have to get rid of it and it is always there.  :)

    Yes I Do

In fact, my grand mother had one just like the black one in the group picture until the day she died.  She had tons of chances to upgrade, but always refused.

    The Rotary Dilemma

I was at a friends house visiting and her youngest daughter had several friends over, she was six or seven. Anyway, this one little girl was supposed to call her parents when she was ready to be picked up. She came into the kitchen, where we were sitting and very politely asked...

The last house I lived at still had one on the

basement wall, and my aunts kid was over and was about 10 and we showed it to him and told him to make a call, he didn't believe us that it was a real phone, so funny.

    From... Childhood

As today, I still remember - it was on the table in guest room.  I was very small child then, so always wondering how all grown-ups using it???  how can they call? :D strange disk with digits, strange combinations :)) a bit later, parents bought telephones with buttons and it...

when I was a kid we had one.

It was brown and had a cord about a mile long and when you picked it up you felt like you were holding a square shaped bowling ball. I liked the way it clicked smoothly through the numbers as you dialed. That thing lasted forever. I have had lots of telephones since but that...

    Oh Yes!

My grandma had one when I was a kid. I used to play with it a lot and call random numbers, asking for my dad. xD  No seriously, my parents went to work. And when I missed them, I dialed random numbers and went, "Hello, daddy?" And the person on the other line would be like, "Uhm...

5 years ago our family was blessed with the addition of my 9 month old cousin, it happened over night and no time to prepare we put a call out to friends and family and by the time we returned from our 10 hour round trip car ride we came home to a fully finished nursery. My 13yr...

Yep Sure Do Remember Those Phones

Those phones were something alright. I used to love how as the numbers got higher, the longer it spun. Sometimes I used to just leave the ear piece on the phone so it wasn't really calling anyone and just spin the numbers. Shows how easily amused I was lol

    During My Childhood

When I was growing up my parents first had a rotary dial phone in the kitchen. It was black and was on the wall by the door. Anytime someone wanted to make a call they had to dial the number. There was no way to program a number into the phone to just push a button to...

    Old Rotary Dial Phones.

They were so nice and heavy. I bet they would do a good bit of damage if you whacked someone upside the head with one. Not like the flimsy lightweight plastic things we have now.

    I Still Have One

I remember when you had to rent it from the phone company and could not own your own phone. Most homes had only one phone at that.

    I Remember

We never had one of that kind, but my uncle had one. I would play with it's dial and then my mother would yell at the top of her voice. I was a small kid, so I could be imagining. It was back in those years, when a telephone was considered a priced possession, along with a...

    A Much Slower Pace

When I was growing up in the 70's and 80's making phone calls was quite a bit different than it is today. For example, if you wanted to make a call to someone, you actually had to know their phone number, unlike today where it is stored by name in our cell phones. In addition to...
