    And Probably Always Will....

I was a young mother, pregnant with my second child.  We lived in a very small , very empty apartment...I was sitting in a lawn chair, listening to my portable radio when I heard the news.  I was completely devastated!!!  Why???? I could not stop asking why...

    Watching the Wheels

I was 11 yrs old.  I remember seeing it on TV.  I was profoundly sad.  Not sure why.  At 11, what kind of real emotion do you have for someone who was not of your generation even.  I was never into Beetles music.  That came later. ...

John Lennon Died Or Was ...

John Lennon died or was shot down.  On December 1991, I do not know the actual day, or the name of the white man that shot him.  I think is was around the 6th of December, for I had been thinking about my Grandmom, being gone for 11 years, I was in my bedroom reading...

To Be Or Not To Be

It was grade 12 - we were on our way to see Shakespeare's Hamlet for a school trip (actually Lennon was shot and died the night before) - but my best friend was the biggest John Lennon fan I had ever known - he idolized him, he was his hero. I don't think we had talked much at...

    Very Surreal

I'll never forget the exact moment I was told. I was getting ready for school in my downstairs bathroom. No one else was up. My cousin, who lived next door, came over as we used to walk together to school. She and everyone else knew how huge a Beatles fan I was. I started liking...

    December 8, 1980 Was a Very Sad Day. :(

I remember hearing about John Lennon's death on the radio.  I was a sophomore in high school at the time.  My older brother was obsessed with The Beatles since he was a toddler, so I was accustomed to hearing Beatles' tunes blaring from his bedroom stereo...

    Kevin Magee's Bar, St. Louis

There was a break from the football game during which the announcement was made. Maggie started singing "Oh, Darling" and everyone in the whole bar joined her in singing it...I'll never forget that night as long as I live.

    Vivid Memory

When John was killed I was in middle school and had been a Beatles fan since I was 7 years old.  Oddly enough, "Help" was supposed to be aired on TV late-night and I was waiting for it to come on after the football game, so I had the game on.  I wasn't paying...

There's A Spaniard In The Works

I prefer to remember a particular day when John Lennon was alive. He and Yoko made a surprise appearance, with Eric Clapton, at a Blood, Sweat and Tears concert at the University of Toronto's Varsity Stadium. We were prepared for magic in those days, but...
