    Thank Y'all!

It's never been a secret that I consider Chris Robinson from The Black Crowes to be my mirror or the male equivalent of myself. He and his brother are from Georgia, USA and he Y'alls a heck of a lot. I am aiming to be him in a tribute band, so I have the mannerisms and accent...

    Shoot Yeah

I reckon it's one of those phrases I picked up at an early age. Of course, it's a mite peculiar me saying it out here in the Heartland.

    Y'all Is Better

As an educated person I am well aware that the plural of "you" is "you." Of course that has always been problematic when you are trying to make clear whether you mean it in it's singular or plural sense. For this reason people in different parts of the English speaking language...

    Southern Saying

I was born and raised in Tennessee, so yes, despite knowing better, I do say "yall". I have tried to eliminate it from my vocabulary, but the older I get, the more I like saying it because it's a quaint way of identifying with my culture. :)

    When I Took Linguistics . . .

. . . our West-Texan teacher pointed out it made a lot more sense than the "You [PLURAL]" in the book.  And I'd already gotten used to distinguishing 'tu' from 'ustedes' in Spanish.  So I use it whenever it seems particularly appropriate--and with no attempt...

    Yall, Not You All

I was born in Oklahoma, where we say y'all a lot. In fact saying "You all" will get you funny looks where I come from. When I was about twelve we moved to Kansas for a few months, and they didn't say y'all. It absoultly drove me nuts! My friends would sit around and every time I...

    It's Habit For Me.

Living in Texas it's only Natural that you say "Y'all!" I say it all the time like for instance 'I'm ready to go to the party, Y'all ready?" Or "OMFG! Y'all are crazy!!" It's in my everyday vocabulary. And it's great to say. The Yankee's could never understand the fun we have...

    Without Even Thinking About It

It just comes second nature to me.  It makes sense anyway.  I mean, if you just say "you" in front of a group, they can't tell if you're talking to the entire group or just one person.  And "you guys" is just sexist.  It's perfectly fine if...

    I Am Bi-accented (almost!)

I'm from the South, of course I say, "Ya'll" Plus I add a few syllables to single syllable words too - sometimes! But, I can turn off the accent and the extra syllabled words - but that "ya'll" likes to sneak out every once in awhile when I am in "mixed...
