I Separate M and Ms By Colors

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 202 People

    Why?

That's an excellent question.  Honestly, I don't know why.  I don't have a preference when it comes to the color or shape, nor do I think one tastes better versus another.  It's just a weird ism I have.  LOL.

    Family Obsession

All the family I know sort their M and Ms by colour. My Grandma, My Uncle - just everyone really. But I'm special I reckon. Not only do I sort mine out by colour, all the group must have equal numbers. If there are 6 Yellows and 3 Reds the bye bye 3 Yellows.

    Not Just M&ms

I do it with any colored candy, really; no matter whether the colors actually taste different or not. Then I alternate the colors I eat them in one at a time. I'll have a red...then a yellow...then a green...and so on, all until I run out. I suppose it looks weird...but it's just...

    We're All Ocd

I have always separated them by colour and never, ever eat them mixed! The blues have to be eaten with the blue and the red has to be eaten with the red... I like all the colours, just not together. mmmmmm.... I feel like having m'n'ms now!

    But It Gets Worse.

I separate them by color, and lay them out in a grid (in color spectrum order) - so I have columns of colors and rows of rainbows. Then I eat the odd ones out, reducing systematically so that I am working toward a pattern... After I get down to an even number of each color, I...

    Fun Fun Fun!

Only my family knows that I separate my M & M's by color. I try to keep that a private thing. I mean, I used to always do that when I got a pack of M &M's or Skittles. I mean, it's the absolute first thing I do or think of! I open up a TV tray, turn on the TV, and start...

    Jail Time Fun

Long time ago, my best friend (now ex-best friend) was in jail. I used to go visit him every weekend, and every weekend I would take a roll of quarters so I could get us snacks out of the machines. I would get Dr. Peppers, and M&Ms if they were available. We would open...

    Are We Ocd?

How strange that people do this?  I eat the colors I like least first, to get them out of the way.  Like dark brown, tan, blue, red...I save the yellow ones for last.  I know they taste the best! :-)

    The Taste Is Slightly Different

I think it's a mental thing, but I can make my mind believe that different colored M&M's taste like different flavors.

    Not Just M&ms!

I have done this with just about every multicolored candy, I've had. Skitles, M&Ms, sweetarts, any of those little candies. I separate them and eat the extras, then eat the rest one color at a time. It's sort of fun for me to see how many of each...

    Rainbow Color Order!

This is totally one of those things that I do but don't tell anyone because I always thought it was weird and no one else did this.  But yes, I admit that I am an M&M sorter.  Whenever I grab a handful, I eat them in order that they follow the rainbow.  Red...

It's Definitely Some Form of Ocd

Not only do I sort them by color... but I absolutely HAVE to have at least one of each color left over as my last handful.  Same with Reese's Pieces. One time, I had my little M&M grid carefully positioned on my desk at work.  One of the bubbly little clones...

I serperate them by color, and then eat them in BACKWARDS rainbow order, saving the "special" looking ones for last[these ones being the ones with deformations].

Some Colours Just Don't Exist In Nature.

I like the brown ones.  Correction:  I used to like the brown ones.  I really can't tolerate the sugar and chemicals anymore, but I liked the brown... and does anyone else remember the tan ones?  I used to like those, too.  I guess I was after truth in advertising.  It's...

    Sorting Is Important! :)

I have always sorted my MnM's first by color, then in groups of four.  :)  There's no particular order to the colors--it's whatever comes out of the bag, but I eat all of the groups of four first...  then any stragglers are grouped together in semi-coordinating...

    Green Is Last

I eat the brown M&Ms first.  Then comes red.  After that blue is next.  I then do a count of yellow and orange to determine which I have the most of.  I eat all of the color with the least.  That leaves me with either yellow & green, or orange...

    The Green Ones First!

I was always a kid to seperate things. I seperated everything by colour. LEGO stones, pencils, M&Ms. And till this very day I eat the green ones first. I adore the fruity, crazy, chemical GREEN of em so much that I imagine them to taste better than the rest. :) I love em.

    Not Just M&ms!

Colored candy needs to be separated into groups, and then eaten in patterns. Some of my friends and family find this odd, others can related. I don't mind sharing my candy, unless it's toward the end. I save the best bits and the most interesting patterns for the end, so it...
