    I Smell Books Too

I used to do it more when I was a kid. I don't so much like the smell of old books though. I also like the smell of money and horses.

    One Thing I've Noticed...

There's a great scene in Buffy the Vampire Slayer where Giles and another teacher are talking about which is better; books or computers, and he says, "Books...smell. Old, musty...knowledge." I know exactly what that means. I smell books as soon as I get them. It smells...

    Guide to Gardening

I live in an apartment, and have no interest in growing anything. I picked this up at my library's used book sale just because it was about 50 years old and smelled like sun-warmed dirt. Someone definitely had that thing outside. It smells delightful.

    Sometimes I Don't Like It...

I love smelling books haha! It's just entertaining =) You can perceive a variety of smells, some are okay, good or other can make you sniffle, and you start sneezing, because you are allergic to some of the smells. That's the part that I don't like of smelling books...

    Some Books Stink

Yeah I admit I smell books :) For good reason though...some stink and the smell burns my nose and eyes like I'm allergic...so whenever I'm going to buy something I tear the plastic off and smell it. I get looks from people because they think that since I'm ripping the plastic off...

    I Wish I Could Smell A Book

I love books and often wished I could smell them. Some I get a whiff every now and then. I have hyponosmia, which is a limited sense of smell. Anosmia is a total lack sense of smell. I have worked in two bookstores and two librarys. I always get wistful someone says they...

    I Do, Indeed.

Every book has a unique scent.  Some smell old, and some smell new.  I personally enjoy the scent of old books more than the smell of new books.  New books can smell bad, or good, it depends.  I think newspapers smell the best, though.  They should have a...

    All The Time

I lose myself often in books and one of the things I don't like about my Kindle is when I read from it I can't smell the antiqued glue of  my book, nor can I feel the bindings, but most of all I miss that familiar smell of printer's ink on paper as I turn the pages one by...

I love the smell of books.

Fanning to my nose, the smell that travels from nose to olfactory bulb that can be detected by my synesthetic olfactory receptor neurons that stimulate other nerve impulses causing creation of mixed unexplainable and delightful experience of senses.

    :D

The smell is just so addictive, is that possible? To be addicted to a smell? Anyway, especially text books at school. What is it about the books that makes them smell so nice? Some kind of chemical in the print?

    Since Young

I've been doing that since I've got better at reading. Whenever I visit the library I'll borrow books and go back to smell them. I like the smell of the pages as I flip through the books. Children's books smell better than adult fiction. I guess it's the different types of paper...

    Library Books

The books in my college library are all so out of date that there's no point using them for actual research. So I just check them out for the smell.

    Not Books Per Se

My family used to get National Geographic magazine, they had every issue from about 1970 onward, but my favorites were the newest ones, because they had beautiful pictures and they smelled so good. Every time a new Natl. Geographic would arrive, I would flip through it, and every...

    Old Books

I used to shelve books in a ilbrary when I was in high school. We had some books from the 1880s that were still on the shelves and I'll admit I sniffed them a few times. Old books and brand new books smell the best.

    Sniff + Whiff = ...

Oh yeah..this is just heaven for me...old and new books alike. Just gives me that zing and I know I'm content. What is it that makes us like the smell? There must be some kind of drug they use on those papers.........because look here now. How many have joined this group? Bet...

    Yay Book Smells

I love the smell of books, new and old...regardless of bookworminess...;) I love them. Though I think I might be allergic to the new glue they use now or something...it makes my eyes burn.

A Scent That Can't Be Replaced

I work in IT Support.  (Yes, yes, I know.  An English major employed as a techie.  Go ahead and laugh.  I'll write you into a novel someday and you won't be a protagonist.  LOL! )  Seriously, though, I work in IT Support, and this relevant...

    One of My Favourite Smells!

My hard cover copy of Half-Blood Prince smells so good. It brings back all kinds of memories from when I was reading it, too.

    Books, cards, paper, ink.

These smells fill me with a profound inner peace. I never feel lonely with a book in my hands or a new set of trading cards. Clean new books are device. Loved old books are mysterious. Dirty books make me cry sometimes.
