    I Swear I'm Happy...really

My friends and family are always on my case, asking, "Are you all right?' and its just the worst possible question, because how do you respond to that when you aren't all right but you don't want them to get all worried or in your business and ask more questions? So I just...

    Why Do I Smile?

. To encourage other people to smile. . To show my happiness. . To hide my pain. . To convince myself I'm happy. . To distract others in pain. . To keep my face from getting angry age lines. . To let my beautiful teeth shine. . To relieve stress. . To show appreciation...

    But People Can Tell

I laugh differently for different occasions and my friends can tell the difference. I have the uncomfortable laugh and the Fran Drescher guffaw.

    Leave Me Alone

When I do it it's usually because I dont want to answer a load of questions just like tbayfinngirl. Sometimes I just want to be left alone, usually when people see your happy they'll walk away, if they see your upset then sometimes they just keep pushing for you to tell them...

    Fake

I find it easier to fake a smile, because then people will leave you alone.  Also, a fake smile gives me a sense of strength.  My reasoning is if I am strong enough to fake a smile, I am strong enough not to totally breakdown. Sometimes it makes me mad when people...

    Working On Authentic Smiles..

    A Smile Covers It Up

In general I smile because I am happy, or that's what I tell myself. But the truth is I feel I have to smile, because I don't want anyone to feel sorry for me. A smile to me can mask anything you want it to. No one has to know what's going on, and that's why I am constantly...

    I Feel Lately That's All I...

I feel lately that's all I do. I keep smiling even though my entire world has come down around me. I mean it doesn't do me any good to wear my broken heart on my sleeve because everyone around me just pretends it's just another wonderful day for me. So I walk around with this...

    Makes Life Easier

They say put a smile on your face and it makes people wonder what you have been up to. Well it also makes life easier because they will tend to believe you are okay and leave you alone and not ask questions. So many times in my life I have wanted to cry instead of smile so I...

    All the Time

I absolutely hate when people are always around me asking me what's wrong so I just pretend that everything is alright. The people who really know me know enough to tell when I'm really not okay. It's probably not the best thing to do but it's better than looking miserable and...

    Hiding Inside

Sometimes, it's not just that easy to blurt out however you feel. And it seemsnot so right to vent out to evryone. It's just easier to smile, and laugh, instead of atlking about it all the time.

Paul Cookson - the Poet Who Said Something Brilliant

The moment I saw this it reminded me of this english poet that came to my school ages ago. He was quite funny and I remember how he said something quite a few times, "Just because I'm smiling doesn't mean I like you!" Ahh...the very essence of british comedy.

    I Kind of Have To.

I smile when I don't mean it every day. I have to. Otherwise people start wondering what is wrong. And I hate that. But those rare occasions when I truly am smiling... nothing can replace those moments.

    False!!

It's like ...I dont understand why people ask 'how are you' as a greeting - no one really cares and the standard reply is 'fine thanks' - whatever is going on for us. It's the same a smiling when you dont really mean it :)

    Some Find It Disconcerting

I have always been told to "Smile. Just Smile" Teachers would take time out of the day just to tell me to do so. I guess i can have a forlorn look on my face at times. I remember one time my Social studies teacher just telling me i looked so sad and that i should...

    ... Automatically

My real feelings mostly seem to disappear in the company of others, so the smile just jumps up there if it's appropriate. When I feel nervous, I grin like the Cheshire Cat. Not even intentionally, it just happens. "They won't know how nervous I am if I have a big goofy...

when i get a remark which i don't really like, i smile.  like i am not hurt.  it's better than to retort.  it's the same smile that serves as my armor to hide what i'm actually feeling.  i could be all smiles to you even while i'm already dying inside...
