    Sign Language

I'm hearing, and I've been signing for about 10 years now... I'm in college majoring in Deaf Education... My best friend is deaf, and I have a huge group of deaf friends that I hang out with regularly... My sign name is the sign for 'fish', but with the letter "T" :)

My sister took Sign Language 101 last semester, and came home and showed it too me, and from then on I was hooked. I am now almost done with Sign Language 101 and still love it. I want to become an interpreter. I find sign language to be an easy language to learn and can't wait...

I first got interested in sign language when I was about 8 years old. My cousin Cathy is deaf, and I was so jealous that her sister was the only one who could speak to her. So I took my mom's book from when she went to community college, and started teaching myself sign-language...

They Were The Only Ones Saying Anything!

i saw a couple on the bus today communicating with ASL. The whole bus was quiet, and it struck me as amusing that they were having such a vivid, colorful, expressionistic, BEAUTIFUL conversation.  The gestures were big and yet intimate at the same time. It was really cool to...

I have always known at some point in my life I would lose my hearing. Hearing loss runs in my family and I was diagnosed with it around 17 or 18 years of age. Around 48 years of age, it dropped off dramatically. I now retain around 3% to 5% of my hearing, which is really not...
