I started learning German in high school,

because Spanish was over-rated, french students were arrogant, and latin is a dead language. I loved it. The sound, the logic, the grammar… Now I've spent 4/10 months in Germany and I am conversationally fluent.

    I Speak Four

I speak four languages fluently ... and I can converse in a fifth -- at least I can make myself understood. Sad thing is with each generation we speak less languages. My grandfather and great-uncle spoke seven languages and my father five. So far my kids only speak one.
