I Still Live With My Parents

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 183 People

    I'm 24 years old now,

and I'm making steps to separate from my parents. Don't get me wrong, I love them very much, no unit of measure can fathom my love for them. I love them to the point that I feel alone though as I think I've kept some distance with other people as it might ruin their expectations...

24, Nearly Finished With Grad School, And Still Living With Parents

It's something that's somewhat embarrassing for me given that I don't know a single one of my classmates (thought admittedly most are older than me) who still live with their parents. I'm graduating soon and don't have a job lined up yet, so economically it makes the most sense...

Im 26 and i still live with my parents.

They still think they have control over me by not letting me see my friends and not letting me go anywhere. They don't treat me like an adult and wont let me do what I want. I have lived in fear of them all my life due to them yelling and spanking me for bad grades through 6th...

Well looks like I will top you all.

I am a 34 female living with my parents and I know a few people who are in my situation. I live in NY state. I finally after over 10 years, am making more money than I ever did. It may be peanuts to most people but it's a goldmine for me. I am currently trying to save money...

Okay so this is now it goes.

. . I moved out of my dad's when I was 21 and then in with my mom who needed help with my grandma. Once I helped them out, I found my boyfriend and lived with him for years . . . just a month ago we broke up. Now I am back with my dad, step mom, two brothers.

I Have Been Living In The Same Exact House For 25 Years Now.

I do have a job. I do my parent's laundry, I cook a few times a week for my parents. When I need a ingredient, I go to the store and buy it with my own money. When Ma wants me to vacuum, clean the kitchen, etc. I do it... eventually. I'm a only child, unmarried female. I believe...

    The Pros And Cons...

It's not a MATURE choice, but it is PRACTICAL. Everyday, I suffer the pros and cons of still living with my Parents. It may be part of the culture where you are not obliged to live on your own when you turned 18 (Unless you get married, but most of them still do). Hence, I should...

My exams just ended a few days back.

And I came back home for a week. In that week, my parents offered to take me nowhere. Like you know to spend time with me at a nice dinner spot or maybe just a cheap eat place where we could be together as a family. I felt pretty hurt. My dad even told me to start studying the...

I recently turned thirty years old and live with my mom. I've always lived with her. I'm unable to work due to agoraphobia, among other things and because of that, I have no income. I do take care of my mom, however, and have since I was 19 and she had a stroke leaving her unable...

20 And Still Living At Home. Why Is This A Big Deal?

What is the big deal about having to leave home when you reach your late teens or your twenties nowadays? I don't get it, there seems to be this pressure from society to get your own place and leave your family as soon as possible now, in order to be seen as independant...
