It's the right thing to do and as long as I can hobble my butt out there, I'll move them out of harm's way. :)

    Passed To The Next Generation

I have saved turtles from the time of my childhood til now - not telling age :) After having children, they have always watched and helped me save turtles going across roads, etc.... as they grew up. Now, my adult children stop and save the turtles, they always are telling me...

    Save The Turtles!!!!

I guess I only stop for them because I wouldn't want to kill anything. And because I had a pet turtle once that I found crossing the street in front of my house. I ran out there and grabbed it because I knew it would be killed if I didn't.

In the south there's a lot of turtles in the

road, I pick me up and put them to the size of the road, it's sad to see a squished turtle in the road.

    Weird

As cruel as I am, I do in fact stop for turtles.  I even make the person I'm riding with stop so I can get out and move the things to the side of the road.  I don't know what makes me do such a kind act... maybe it's that other part of me that doesn't want to see an...

    Questioned By Police

The town where I live has many streams and ponds. I frequently see turtles trying to cross the road. When I do, I stop and help them along. One time after I did a police officer stopped me and asked what was going on. After I explained that I carried a turtle out of the road...

They Could Use A Helping Hand

Most turtles that I've ever seen outside are heavy and slow and unable to get out of the way of moving vehicles if they're on the road, so whenever I've been driving and saw a turtle on the road I've stopped and moved him or her off to the side and onto the grass. On the way out...

    When I Was Little

I was born in and grew up in the Galapagos. Giant marine iguanas. Tortoises. Giant land iguanas. Winged albatrosses. Sea lions, fur seals, dolphins, star fish, even sharks! Loads of birds and wildlife. And turtles. My home was right on the beach front. Tourists would stay in our...

Of course all animals deserve much respect, and we are responsible for not interfering their lives and letting them live normally.

    Just Last Week

I was taking my little boy to his grandparents and thought there was a strange rock in the road... It was a little guy with a mostly yellow speckled shell. We got out of the car and walked the rest of the way up, and we had to pet the "tutle" who had decided to...

Helping the Turtle Cross the Road

One of the few pleasant memories I have from my marriage was the turtles. Turtles, as everyone in this group knows, have a very difficult time crossing the road. When we were driving, and we saw a turtle, we would immediately put on the breaks, RUN to see if the turtle was alive...
