I Stutter

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 531 People

Hi everyone! I've had a speech impediment

since middle school. I have a younger brother with autism who has stuttered since he was little, so I guess my speech got overlooked. By the time I knew I had a stutter I was in too deep and was too scared to get help. I'm in college now. I've still never had speech therapy or...

I've always stuttered as long as I can remember.....I was always really quiet.....because of it the teachers I had growing up would always say I was very shy and timid which I wasn't really, I just felt it was easier acting that way than actually trying to be more verbal when...

    I Kicked It

I stuttered all my life until about 19 when I decided that "I don't give a rat's arse" if someone hears what I have to say or not. If they cannot listen to me talk slow, then get out of my life! So I still stuttered on some words but as I got older the stuttering ceased. I am...

I'm thirteen and I've been stuttering ever since I can remember. My mum can't afford speech therapy for me, so I am left miserable. I get bullyed for it too. It brings my self confidence down. I have so much trouble trying to speak, yet alone breathe. I avoid doing speeches in...

This year has been going great.

I finally said a sentence where I did not stutter. 16 years of my life I spent hiding behind my own shadow, choosing not to speak when I had everything in my mind trying to escape from my mouth. But this year, I had chosen to take up speech therapy, and it was the best decision...

Stuttering is one of the things I hate about

myself. Whenever I'm nervous, my words slip out of my mouth. It's so embarassing, especially when I read stuff aloud in school. One time I presented a project for school and I stuttered so much people were laughing. I just hate it how people can speak so perfectly even when...
