Not Growing Up Fast Enough, Perhaps?

I think a lot of the time, the problem is not that children are growing up too fast, it is that modern, mainstream culture has gotten the process of helping children grow up wrong. What's more, that same culture has some very odd ideas about what childhood is about. The idea...

for this, but they will not have their own tv or computer in their room at least until age 16, most likely. Depends on the kid. They won't have a cell phone until 15 or whenever I see fit (it will be more for me to get a hold of them). Not allowed to date until 16, maybe even 18...

It's horrible seeing children not acting like .

.. Well, children. I see 10 year olds in mini skirts and heels, with iPhones, joining Facebook and having 'boyfriends' and it breaks my heart. At that age I was still climbing trees and thought boys were icky. This generation is so ****** up :(

I grew up in a world that had some very good old fashion ways for the learning & growing atmosphere for children.  My parents were married and in Love for 57 years.  I know this because they never went to bed on an argument.  I heard them say they were sorry and the other one...

I agree. They are growing up too fast but I also wonder if parents are not maturing fast enough ? I have noticed this perplexing trend. Slutty outfits for five year olds. Thongs for two year olds ( who should be in diapers ), heels for girls not older than six and low cut jeans...

I don't get why kids would want to grow up so fast. The time comes fast enough. And when it comes, they won't be ready. Most aren't. I'm not ready to be where I am. I want time to slow down. I took my time for granted. When I was little I wanted to know what it was like to be...
