    Yes, and No. ...

Yes, and no. It is wonderful, refreshing, but it can be dangerous. The innocent can be easily hurt, and when lost is very painful. But that makes it all the more precious to hold on to, right?

    The Tooth Fairy

My son, almost 6, still believes in the Tooth Fairy. A few days ago we went to a dentist who had to remove one of his teeth, it was high time for that. He was all excited about it, because he knew the fairy would be coming to visit him at night. Our fairy is not your usual fairy...

Yes, Yes, and Yes. I Do. ...

Yes, yes, and yes. I do. I think it's amazing. If/when I have kids I will try to hold onto their innocence forever. I still find myself to be rather innocent, and I don't mind it in the least. :) I don't want them to grow up too quickly!

    It Is Precious

It is such a precious thing that you only seem to see in the very young anymore. My grandbabies are like that. Their innocence is so sweet and fragile and untouched by life's cruelities, I treasure the time I have with them. I love to see the world through their eyes because...

    An Unorthodox Example

while i'm thinking of deep thoughts to write on this topic, i'll share a very un-deep (shallow?) story about something that happened to me earlier. i was at the office and i needed to use the restroom. i headed toward the first stall bc statistics say that's the one that gets...

It must be 15 years ago now.

We had this huge privet hedge that had been allowed to grow into a tree and in one of my more surreal moments I'd cut it into a huge pyramid shape. For some reason this seemed like a good plan, don't ask.. Each year would see me spend 2 or 3 full afternoons Putting it back...

Innocence to Me Means a Lack O...

Innocence to me means a lack of bitterness. It means you haven't been jaded and corrupted by the modern cynical world. I think innocence is looked at as naivity and frowned upon. I disagree though... People think Naivity is stupidity, i'll often hear people say "Get into...

It is one of the most beautiful things in the world. I know if you look around at the little children and their untampered innoncence, it is a touching thing and incredibly beautiful.

    Innocence Lost.

I was watching my 18 month old granddaughter one day and had to envy her. She was living in a part of her life that was far too short and would be robbed from her by the world in which we live in . The innocence that was within her at her birth was about to be taken away forever...

    Long Way To Happy

When you are young, all you want to do is by older. You want to be an adult, do adult things, have a job, not go to school. When you are older, all you want to do is go back. Go back to that innocence, that wonder about everything. Go back to the place when you can close your...

    Too Fast Too Soon

I totally agree with most of y'all. I have an 8 year old nephew and I try to shield him from any pornographic or abusive things (at least I teach him not to hit girls nor torture animals ;P) The thing is it's quite difficult to control it once he's at school. I don't know how...

At High School, we had to study a theme in our readings during Year 10 and it was that of 'Childhood Innocence'.  Many questions were advanced as to how this would end and poems such as Heaney's - Mid Term Break and texts such as Z for Zachariah were used. It was a concept...

that feeling, when you are far beyond

city-lines into nature and your natural surroundings, when you've lost that sense of self, inside a forest of wonder- feet roaming free, eyes open wide to the water-colored depths of life swirling in front of you; the stars, moon, and sky the mountains, forests and oceans all...

I lost my innocence through my extended family

on my mothers side. My mother has three sisters all younger than her. Each sister has three kids except for the youngest sister who only has two. When I was little we were such a close-knit family or so it seemed, I'm not so sure about that anymore. As I grew into my teens is...

    There's Nothing Wrong With It

Of course though at times after being picked on about it while I was in high school, yeah there were times where I hated being considered "pure" and "innocent". It was annoying. It made me feel like I was still four, even though I was a teen. It seemed like I was missing out on...

I think children have the best world view of things, they see things for the first time and it's pure and beautiful, not used and ugly.  As we grow older we get more jaded about the world around us.

    It Is To Be Treasured

Innocence is something that can't really be put into words, it's something that you either see of feel. It's one of the most beautiful things out there because you can tell that whoever has it is still in their purest form. I think that it's the kind of thing that reminds people...
