I've read some of his books in German and they were great. Then I bought About A Boy, cause that's my favorite, in English and it blew me off my feet! He writes so ******* wonderful! Every single book I've read by him was a pearl.
For a class, we are discussing copyright for compilation CDs. I think the quote from High Fidelity about mix-tapes being like a break up and requiring an attention getter at the beginning, etc. would be a perfect way to start my response. Unfortunately, I don't have a copy handy...
his writing is dark, stark and it feels like he is so many different people fighting towards the one goal, overcoming vast cynicism to see truth and beauty, i believe his books are a celebration of life
His characters have all these flaws but i laugh to myself as I know i would think and do the exact same things even though I can see how wrong it is.
He knows and expresses those inner thoughts I have not seen related anywhere else.
