A Title Does Not Earn You Respect

So often a person is placed into a position of authority and they believe that their subordinates should automatically pay them respect.  It is this type of mentality that often leads to the demise of many managers with good potential.  The reality...

    Very True

I've worked hard in my careers to be the best I could be. That's how I was taught that respect comes ... by earning it. I strive to do that. I still strive to do that.

    I Am a Hypocrite

    Earned Not Given.

I think respect is something that has to be earned.  It cannot be "given" or "recieved."    How does one earn respect?  By first being respectful. It means appreciating others from without, not just from within.  It means acceptign...

    You Have To Earn It.

If you don't respect people, they won't respect you, that's the bottom line.  If you want respect, you must earn it.  You must be nice to someone if you want them to be nice to you in return.  It's common sense.
