    Alone ...

Maybe it's just the mood I'm in this weekend.  Maybe it's the weather or the effects of the festive season.  But I saw this group name and immediately thought ... surely we always travel alone.  I'm not talking about a holiday trip of course.  I have my own...

    Turning Point

When I was 24 i had just been through a very personal traumatic event I won't say what because it is very private. I was with a person that broke me down daily and treated my like I was less than a person. I was trying to get a handle on things in my life and I felt...

I never feel like I travel alone.

I meet people right away, sometimes even on the trip there. It actually can be overwhelming (in a good way)! But, I do prefer it to going on a trip with someone, to be honest. I feel kind of like a jerk, because I really do want good friendships and I know some people would like...

I enjoy solo travel as well

as traveling with others but solo travel gives me a confidence boost. I have traveled solo to Rome, Dublin, Bondi Beach, Madrid, Barcelona, and many trips to New York City. I love the freedom to do what I want when I want it. I like being with myself to be quiet and...

    Alone on travel right now.

I've been here several times though, even went to college here for a bit. Visiting friends and such. But other than that, alone. I get to make the plans and decisions. Or none at all. But no one decides for me. No waiting on anyone to get ready. Love it.

    A Great Escape

I've travelled alone many times but this story relates to one occasion in 1999 when I went to the Highlands of Scotland.  I was living in London at the time.  My ex-husband was on an extended tour with one of the bands on our record label and had been away for about...

Took classes at Oxford in England when I was sixteen for a couple of months. Had to go from NC to NY, switch airports and get to Heathrow to catch the train to Oxford all by myself. It's not such a big deal now, but when I look back on it, I should have been more proud of myself...

    A Private Future

It is nice to have friends, associates, and people I know and trust come along, our paths criss-crossing several times along our respectful journeys.  Sometimes we travel together for quite a ways, our paths taking similar routes.  In the final analysis, though, I know that...

I am so happy to be waiting

for my flight to go home. I miss my dogs, my daughter, my wife and my barbecue. Not necessarily in that order.

I have Travelled a lot on my own.

For work, for pleasure but mainly just to get there. And I just learned something new : another evolution of the English language - you get to drop an L from travelled. Is that permitted? Or even permited ?

    My Own Agenda

I like to travel by myself so that I can go and do whatever I want and don't have to worry about pleasing someone else. I suppose some of that comes from taking family trips as a kid. Never once was my opinion even considered when plans were being made. As a result, when I travel...

    More Then Once

Well I have done it for work to many times to count, but after college I took a week and a half trip before I started my first job to the pacific northwest.  I had no plans, no one to meet, just tickets to get me out and back and hotel reservations so I would have a...

    I don't enjoy complicated trains!

Heading to a place I have never been to before on a Tokyo train. Loads of people, mass signage and so much directions! Made it to the train, but gosh the stress is a lot when I can't be late!!

    the only downside is

that you have to ask strangers to take photos of you or take selfies. i miss the moment when I was taking a selfie in Paris and Japanese tourists offered to help and take a proper pic of me. It was in 2007 and I know it won't happen again.

    I Almost Always Do

    One, Two And A Crowd

I've been a restless traveler.  Not just within the country or the continent but to distant and once in a while even dangerous places.  These voyages, call them war-zone trips, I mostly made on my own.  When it was for leisure, I sometimes traveled with others...

    I went to Kauai, Hawaii

for three months by myself. It was my best trip yet. You meet more people when you're alone. I met a really neat lady who became my dive and running buddy. I did yoga everyday, surfed, sat by the ocean, and enjoyed a peaceful existence. I felt really in touch with myself, and...

    Solo Travel

I've traveled alone quite a bit. San Diego, Vancouver, Maine, San Francisco, etc. Last year, I even went on a 2 week trip to Alaska alone - one week on a cruise by myself and then another week hiking and sightseeing. I guess I decided a long time ago that I wasn't going to let...

    By Happenstance

It wasn't by choice, but I'm sort of glad I did.  Orionlover69 was supposed to fly to AZ and we were to drive here to TX that day he was incarcerated.  It's a shame he's there, really, but traveling alone helped me see a few things.  It was very good.

I am in love with travelling alone.

I have backpacked across Europe, twice and travelled to Central America and across the United States and Canada. I do this alone. I've met incredible people who have come to mean more to me than the friends I have back home. I have fallen in love with someone I met in Paris, who...
