I Try My Best to Escape Reality When I Can

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 4,835 People

I suppose by joining this experience it could

be misconstrued as me being unhappy in my reality. For the record, I love my world. (Hence the tagname.) I'm fortunate enough to not want for much, have a "job" that I actually enjoy but more than that I have a family that I adore. With that said, the escape from the everyday...

    Is it cowardness? Maybe,

but "nobody is perfect", like Joe E. Brown said in "Some like it hot". Plus, escaping may not always be a bad thing. We can also discover something new about ourselves or it may be helpful to perceive the concrete reality from a different point of view. Sometimes also EP can be...

    Watching a movie helps me,

but nothing helps more than reading a book. Specially fantasy, because then while you're reading it you're kind of almost thrown into another world. The same goes for when I'm writing my own stories. I literally become the architect of my own personal world and that's quite...

    Thoughts On Reality

I live in two different worlds. One, i am a shy, observant, timid woman, and the other i am full of life, color, and passion. I can enter my second world through many gateways. Sobriety is not one of them. Hallucinogens and other similar wonders have the power to take me into a...

    It'S Not A Fulltime Thing

EP is great in that it allows for an escape. Fantasy and game playing allow for an easy decompression. But, just like harlequin ice cream, I prefer a mix. I don't want to blend reality and fantasy, but I want to maintain both.

I tend to escape into my mind often.

There's a story happening right inside my head, where I lead a very different life. There are times when I wish I lived the life inside my imagination instead. When I'm not inside my own head or living my life, I write my stories down. I might publish one when I'm done. Why? It...

    You should never escape reality

even if it's at its ugliest state. Trying to sugar coat things and paint the blackest black with bright colors only disguises the worst things as if they were good but they are still giving off a negative influence. Accept everything for what they are and address them properly.

There are days when the idea of my escape can

seem so unrealistic and unattainable that it almost makes it hard to truly enjoy it. Yet I find myself unable to stop going back to it. There's just something about the way the wind feels against my face when I'm riding on Falcor's back across all of Fantasia.

but as I got older I started to realize that no matter how many stories I read I'd never have that life in the books. So now I'm stuck in reality except for those precious moments when I can just float away and dream.

it's one place I can be without being misplaced. I escape this world only during sleep. My friend told me that I have to choose which world I want to stay in. I choose my fantasy world over the real world. I'd choose that any day. I also do it by listening to some music.

I'll curl up under my sheets with a good book. I'll immerse myself in my own world I've written. I'll become an assassin and fight Templars. I'll lose myself in music. Anything . . . anything that isn't, I don't know, boring like my day-to-day life.
