Well I'm disabled and use a wheelchair.

My family and I live in the same house, anyways. I guess my four year old nephew watches and kind of understand more than we actually think he does. I transfer in and out of the wheelchair a lot and occasion will ask for help. Well, anyways I will sometimes be climbing into my...

    Manual Wheelchair

Use it for far distances or if I'd be required to stand for a very long period of time. I was born with moderate Cerebral Palsy. I'd give more info about that, but I may save it for my first blog on here ;)

    Compelling Story And Sharing

Hello--I have been enjoying reading your experiences and have been doing public relations and working with a woman in a wheelchair who has a service dog that aids her in daily living. It is striking to me how simple tasks are challenging and she says it has become increasingly...

Most of the time, it looks like I am completely

able-bodied, but the look is not my reality. I have physical disabilities with balance, finger dexterity and hand/eye coordination. I also have slow reflexes. I cannot balance on certain types of ground levels by myself. I need to hold on to the railing or someone's hand or...

I hate it but I have no choice.

Due to negligent doctors I am forced to use a wheelchair. I don't get around like I used to. I've been using one since I was 17 years old. Most days I don't even leave the house because people stare. I can ignore most people but it still bothers me to my core to have people...

Ok so a strange thing happened to me over the

weekend. I was at the supermarket with my mum getting stuff for my bday party this weekend and as we were coming out the front door, this lady walks in as i'm going out. Jokingly my mum says to the woman " oh he didn't let you go first. that wasn't much of a gentleman, was it...

    When My Life Changed

I have always been very active and athletic.  Back on a Sunday afternoon in 2002 I was with some friends doing some mountain biking on the trails.  It was a great day and we were getting a little too confident.  When it was my turn to "show off"  I went down a trail at  a...

Two weeks ago, I walked across a road from the

roundabout, I looked both ways, there were two cars, but they were far away, so I crossed, as I did,I looked again, that's when I saw a car mere centimetres away from me, that's when I froze with fear. The next thing I remember is sitting next to av policeman, seeing ambulances...

    ...pretty much every night

when I take my prosthetics off and all weekend long. Both ways of getting around have their plusses and minuses, and I find myself planning several moves ahead before deciding which way to go. Most people I come into contact with at work don't know that I'm an amputee (they know...

    My Wheelchair Is My Freedom!

My wheelchair is my freedom! I didn't want one at first, for years I wouldn't accept it as an option. I thought it would somehow make me more disabled. (I can walk short distances, but can't stay upright very long without loosing consciousness.) That's not the case though. I was...

labor...I use it mainly when I go out anywhere...It's surprisingly comfortable, but I suppose they make the chair pads that way purposely. I would like to personalize it a bit, but haven't decided exactly how I want to do that yet. It folds up to fit in the trunk of the car, so I...

    I Use A Wheelchair

I use a wheelchair.  Only sometimes because I know how to walk on my hands pretty fast!  I was born without legs.  When I use my wheelchair I go pretty fast too.  Just as fast as some people running.  Faster down a hill!  I love it!

    Overweight People Need Wheelchairs Too

I'm fat. I can't walk. Despite what some people think, these two facts are totally unrelated. I use an electric wheelchair because I was born with cerebral palsy, I can't walk and have limited use of my hands. I'm fat because...well, I'm fat because I eat a lot, and my seizure...
