    I Can't Believe I Use to Hitchhike

    I look back now and it scares the h*** out of me. To think I was only 15 when I ran away from home. I went places I never should of gone. Things happened that never should of been done. At one time it was considered "hip" . Now it's considered stupid.

    I Used To Hitchhike!

      What makes HitchHiking different these days?   FEAR!   In the 1960's and into the 70's,  hitchhiking was commonplace.   The Good Samaritan concept was accepted and employed.  One never felt scared thumbing a ride anywhere...

    When I was young, I used to hitchhike. Sometimes it was just within town, but many were the times I hitchhiked across the Midwest and The West. From Illinois to southern California. From northern California to southern California.

    Parents Encouraged Me to Hitchhike

    This was about 25 years ago now. I guess in those days it was relatively safe. We had moved from the city into a rural area. My mother doesn't drive and dad was not really keen on driving us anywhere. We had to walk 20 mins to the main road where the bus to town came by...
