I Value Correct Spelling and Punctuation

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 206 People

I judge people on their spelling. It's a horrible thing to do but I can't avoid doing it. Long words are fair enough but when people use the wrong there/they're/their etc, it really winds me up!

I Do I Value Them Two

I value correct spelling very much.  And, correct punctuation is a necessity if you want to understand something your read without having to go back multiple times. Not that I condemn those who can't spell or don't use proper punctuation.  I understand completely. ...

    I Have My Own Tongue.

Tongue. It's spelled T-O-N-G-U-E. It's remarkable how many times I come across someone spelling it as ''tounge''. That's pronouced ''Toonje''! Cat got your tounge?

I find that, whenever someone I talk to does not spell correctly, or has bad grammar, it's all I focus on.  It never fails to make someone look dumb. If you can speak English, you should learn how to spell it!

I know it's probably wrong to feel this way

but if someone messages me and has horrible grammar I'm immediately not as interested in what they are saying. It's sad, but they almost become odious to me. The opposite is true also, I find it very attractive when a person can form a well constructed sentence. It gets me all...

Spelling and punctuation are important to me, especially if the person writing is trying to be serious. In my opinion, it's sloppy if a person doesn't look over or spell-check what they are writing, including writing online.
