In trying to describe the two major differences

concerning the creation narrative to my four year old (because he asked me where did it all come from) I explained that some people believe God made everything: stars, sun, moon, sky, rain, rocks, people, plants, animals - the lot... His four year old brain pondered that for...

    Thoughts Turn The World

I love studying the human mind. I love analyzing people's action. Piecing things together is fun, observation is a past time. I like looking at random things, places and people and creating rich back round stories for them. I make them so detailed even I start to believe it. I...

If You Think Critically You Know It

I once "thought" that I was a free thinker and that I thought critically and could discern truth without subjection to ideologies and wishful thinking. I was wrong. I have come to understand what critical thinking truly is and that I did NOT think critically. For the most part, I...

I was taught the critical thinking philosophy

by my parents. When I was in high school and in college I selected two items and then wrote an article about my findings and beliefs and non-beliefs about a topic. I often use critical thinking in my life today.

    Thoughts

To think critically is to show you want to learn, to show you really are learning. Being mindlessly fed "facts" and information is useless if you don't use it. One of the easiest ways to use your new found knowledge is to examine it. Learn more. Ask questions. Delve deeper. How...

Though I am not a critic,

I don't need a substance to help me to let me think. When I am thinking, I am not writing. And now when I am writing, I am not thinking. Surely, two tasks can't be done at the same time. But surely I have two sides of thinking, when it comes to girls. At one side, I am a good...

    Ep Juked Me!

Before I launch into my tirade, let me explain the meaning of the word ‘juked’. In the 50s and 60s and 70s, people would put coins into juke boxes instead of dollar bills or credit cards and it would play one to several of their favourite songs. Many times, the jukebox would...

Witnessing The Death Of A Baby Bird

Today, a baby bird fell out of its nest outside my house, and for whatever reason it really impacted me. It really got me thinking, and I spent time crying over this little bird. One thing that has always eased my emotions has been writing, so I decided to just write about it. It...

    The Essence Of Great Leadership

Unquestionably, some people are born to be great leaders. Not only are they charismatic, but they possess an inherent knowledge of the qualities that a good leader must have. Others develop the essential qualities over time and with experience, while others are foisted into...

    So many people don't.

I have reviewed and strengthened my positions over the years by thinking about them. Sometimes I have changed my mind.

It is so important not to confound pessimism

with critical thinking. The latter is delusional, distorting. It fails to tell the whole story or the correct story at all. To be truly critical, we must have minds that are open to the good and the bad.
