I get upset when and irritated

when I see supervisors misspell words. They should know and proofread what they write first. They told me they don't care as long people get the message.

    Grammar Shlammer

Language is the construct by which you attain consciousness. You think therefore you are. Grammar is the set of rules that govern your language. The rules by which your letters become your words and your words become your sentences. Ergo, your grammar shapes your thoughts. You...

    I value proper grammar

and give am respect for those who chose to do it consistently. I admit that I am quite the slacker sometimes. Sometimes, I do not care what my grammar comes across looking like.

How hard is it to use a period? Or at least a comma to separate you long a** story. It makes people want to continue to read because it's easier to read. I hate reading a long story when it's just one long thought. Bad spelling I can deal with, but I don't want to have to pick...

There Is An Old Adage, 'say What You Mean And Mean What You Say'.

I believe that good and proper grammar allows people to say what they mean. I have heard bad grammar, and it is this listeners opinion that bad grammar doesn't allow people to express themselves as they wish to. A person goes from saying what they mean, to conforming to what they...

People Who Don't Use Possessive Pronouns When Referring To Their Family Members

This is just a pet peeve of mine. This girl in one of my high school classes always used to tell me about her life. I hardly knew her or the people she would talk about, yet she always referred to them as "Aunt Jackie" or "mom" or "Uncle Mark." Sweetie, we are not related. These...

Chew With Your Mouth Closed And Other Simple Things

    Whiteboard Messages

I recently joined the EP group "I Value Proper Grammar." I received a whiteboard message that made me laugh and shake my head (thinking). Below is a copy of the dialog. To save this poor soul's face, I have changed his name to XYZ. Posted by XYZ on June 8th, 2011 at 12:01PM to...

    What? I'm An English Major...

In all honesty, I've been known to fall in love simply because of the way they write and speak. Speaking is not as much of an issue in my book. One should be able to speak freely and easily. Most people do not put too much thought into what they are about to say. However...

English Class was always my favourite class throughout my school years. I remember my Grammar lessons in middle school. I remember doing extra homework diagramming sentences. When I homeschooled my children, I designed a Grammar curriculum that I used when I taught in a...

It's The Way I Was Raised

Having been brought up in a family where my mother was an English teacher for many years, proper grammar was always instilled in both my sister and I. I am not perfect at it, and do often make mistakes, especially as a habbitt, after so many years of listening to some of my...
