    Enter The Void

Enter the Void is probably my favorite movie. It is not for everyone. The cinematography is beautiful and it is long tense. It is a French film set in Tokyo, Japan about a drug dealer and the Book of the Dead. You just have to see it.

Lars Von Trier - Dancer In the Dark

This was a positively wrenching film for me.  About 3/4 of the way through it got visceral.  Definitely not for everyone - the natural lighting and hand-held camera of the "Dogme 95" style is difficult enough, but Bjork's quirky performance and the...

    Nicolas Winding Refn's Style

what kind of style does Refn have in your opinion? I love his films. The Pusher was awesome - the whole trilogy was great! but then he gets so intense in Valhalla Rising and Drive.. I love the wide angled shots where the emotion of the film is experienced through his direction...

    Some Recommendations...a Few

As It Is In Heaven- a beautiful Swedish film, that just moves you to your core. Italian For Beginners- a wonderful “indie” Danish film that’s about a group of misfits who come together over Italian classes. Part of the dogme film group, which if you haven’t checked out...

    Jim Jarmusch - Dead Man

Something about this film grabbed me the second time around (the first time I fell asleep).  Maybe it was the gorgeous black-and-white photograghy, ethereal editing and Neil Young's stark soundtrack.  Mostly I think what appealed to me was Jarmusch's brutal...

    Some I Like

Volver, Zhou Yu's Train, Lust and Caution, and Whale Riders (I think) are some good ones.

    Like Crazy And Submarine

I just recently saw both of these movies. I actually almost didn't see Like Crazy simply because I thought it was a stupid title for a movie BUT it has the guy from Charlie Bartlett in it and I love him. Anyway, Like Crazy is an extremely depressing movie about love but it is...

    Shane Carruth - Primer

I posed an EP question seeking anyone who had seen this film, and only got two answers: 1 - Yes - almost indescribably stupid and poorly made. 2 - No.   Legitimate answers, both. For me, this is more of an experience than a movie.  I can't get enough...
