Hello My Name Is Orchid and I'm Addicted to Books

Some people drink.  Some smoke.  Some do drugs.  My addiction is books.  Words hold a spell over me that I am loath to break. I love to know what people are reading at the moment. Here is what I am reading right now. Possession by A.S. Byant Interred with...

    Food For Your Mind-grapes

I haven't been reading too many of the books I actually want to read lately, what with school giving me books in which I'm not remotely interested (ie Shakespeare) but at the moment I am reading The Winter of Our Discontent by John Steinbeck and I'm really enjoying it. After that...

The Fifth Sacred Wheel By Starhawk

I just finished a book that I totally consider life-changing. Sometimes just saying that is cliche, but the book gave me words and images that gives life to some of my beliefs, my future goals.  It gave me more perspective on behavior, love, kindness, poetry, community, and...

Just Finished Two and Am Working On One

Just finsished reading two - Dark of the Moon, by John Sanford.  I have read many in Sandford's Prey series, but this was my first with another of his characters, Virgil Flowers. I really liked the character as he is very much a smart *** like myself. Plot was good, with a...

    My Books

The brothers Karamazov by Doestevsky.  Its a long book and I have been reading it for two weeks.  It is one of those books I have to put down and think about after I've read four or five pages.  Russian writers in the 1800s were real geniuses.  They wrote from...

    For the Moment,

I'm about to finish The Claw of the Conciliator by Gene Wolfe, it's the second book in his The Book of the New Sun series. It's very interesting, though I do need to read some paragraphs more than once to get it all to sink in. I'd reccomend the series to anyone who likes science...

    The Book Thief

By Markus Zusak. It's a beautiful, moving story set in Nazi Germany, narrated by death. I don't think I've ever read another book that has made me smile, laugh, cry and melt inside all at once. This man has an incredible imagination. I strongly recommend.
