I'd Like To Pass It On

Years ago, as a nanny, I got to go on a walking fieldtrip with one little boy's coop preschool class. The daughter of the teacher was deaf, and was in the same class. So everything the teacher said was also signed. It was amazing. Now I teach a preschool class, though I just...

    Please Do

Sign language opens up a whole new world. I am fully deaf from birth, and my two eldest children are also deaf (my third child is not). It's always lovely when someone makes the extra effort to communicate as, especially with a child, it can be hard for em to rely on mouthing...

I wish I had a deaf friend to teach me. There's no better way to learn than doing it everyday.

Ever since I have become interested

and involved in the medical field, I have been compelled to learn sign language. In my shop, we took a few small sign language lessons, and I picked it up rather quickly. I think it would be amazing for me to be able to communicate and interpret when I am working in the hospital...

    My Reason

I'm half deaf in my right ear and my hearing is increasing getting worse. I'm only 16. Also I want to be a clinical psychologist and be able to work with the deaf as well as hearing. I was going to take it in highschool but I dont have room for it in my schedule :/

    More For Myself

When I was a toddler, I had to get these little tubes in my ears so that I could hear. Apparently they had fallen out a long time ago but I remember going places and I had to have my ears checked every half hour. It was a pain, especially going in the water. I've always needed to...

    Sign Language

I've been doing Sign Language, the British Sign Language that is, since 1993.... I had a fascination with the world of the deaf, and deaf studies since a very early age. Why? I still don't know! The art of speaking with only your hands and facial gestures seemed quite beautiful...

    Simplified Signing

With my son being mute, I already know quite a bit of a simplified form of signing for children. I really need to begin learning how to sign, normal though. He is getting older. Nearly 7 years old now. I wish I knew someone who could help to teach me.

I want to learn sign language. It has always seemed so interesting to me, and even though, I don't know anyone who is deaf or hearing impaired, I believe it's a great thing to learn. I think it's a more fun way to express yourself with your hands, then with your words.
