    *sigh*

I'll never do it, I know--far too settled in my home for about 35 years now---but it would be a dream to live on a couple of acres, preferably on tall hills or low mountainside, surrounded by trees, with a stream or two running into a small lake. There might even be a tiny islet...

cabin there is a beautiful lake. One of the most precious lakes in the Western United States. In a national park. I absolutely adore it. I have lived in this area for nearly 20 years and never tried swimming in it until this summer. WAS I BLIND?! I must have been. Anyhow...

property to do just this when I retire. I would be simply content living without the city life on a daily basis. The crackle of a campfire, A log stove to heat the place up and perk my coffee. Sitting in old wooden chair and having a glass of wine at dusk. Hearing the wild come...

Getting interested in the "Tiny House" movement.

Small cabins or homes, which can be mobile (or not). Build yourself (or not) and extremely affordable. Just build a lake, plant some trees, park your cabin. You're done. :)

    Walden-Esque

After reading Thoreau's Walden, the idea of living in a cabin in the woods is a really appealing idea. Living off the land, surrounded by nature and the world is such a spiritual thought. Honestly, I think I could only do it for short amount of time, maybe for a month or so. But...

I am actually in love with my lake. When I see this lake I get excited and calm at the same time . When I know I'm going to be near my lake my breathing changes . I can think more clearly by my lake . Almost all of my friends live by the lake , but secretly the lake is my best...

and even though I can compete with the semi best of primative campers, I now prefer a little cabin by the lake. As a young girl in Michigan, we had our own private piece of a lake, Mandon was it's name. I dreamed I had built a large cabin set up on pillars on the lake. I have...

In a college English class, we had to read Thoreau's "Walden." That book made such an impact on my life. I was already a nature-loving, solitary weirdo. The book just made me want to become a hermit even more. My favorite line was "The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation...

I have a cabin in the woods by a lake, but I only ever get a chance to go there with my family. And I'd like to go there to escape them, not be trapped there with them. What would be even better is a cabin in the woods, by a lake, backed by a mountain. That would be my ultimate...
