I Was In a Car Accident - Forum & Chat Board | I was in my first accident and need advice...plz help

OK here is the scenario. I have a new VW Jetta. I live in Pittsburgh and was going to work yesterday morning. I was on Bigello Blvd. There are 2 lanes inbound the city and 2 lanes outbound. I was traveling inbound in the right hand traveling lane. The only person in front of me was in the lane next to me. He was driving like a 85 Utility Van. We were approaching an intersection. Keep in mind the van is still in front of me in the left lane and I am in the right lane. The lines on the road are broken white lines indicating passing is allowed except for at the intersection we was approaching it turns into a solid white line. Well when I get about 50 to 100 feet from the light, it turns from green to yellow so I could not slam on my breaks, it was too late so I was going to go straight through, I never accelerated. Well just as my car was passing under the traffic light, the van was basically beside me, and the van decided to make a right turn from the left passing lane that he was in, crossing the solid white line. I was not going fast. In fact I had brand new tires less than a week old and left no skid marks what so ever. As the van made a right I tried to make the right with him and try to avoid the accident or at least soften the blow. My car was totaled. I dislocated my thumb. His vehicle had minor damage and he had no injuries but went to the hospital anyways because he was shaken up.

My question is...Can I be found at fault for this? I tried to maintain control and turn with him. And he crossed a solid white line at an intersection.

Please help me re-assure myself in this. I'm a nervous wreck. And my car was my baby so I want another one just like it but brand new because that's how I purchased mine.
