No other way for me to do it,

I don't have a dishwasher, but I find it relaxing...the opposite of ironing.

    Red Hands

I wash mine by hand sometimes twice a day, I was taught that if your hands didn't turn red the dishes were not clean.

Not Entirely Sure Why, But I'm Glad

This house has a dishwasher.  I was the first to move in, and for reasons of my own, I prefer to hand-wash dishes. To my delight, my two roommates kept on washing dishes by hand.I was thrilled.  So now all three of us wash dishes by hand; I don't think anyone even gave the...

    Dish Washers Smell.

Having spent most of my working life, working, I've spent a good proportion of these years mending things. I have fixed, fettled or flung away, numerous dishwashers, and never ever found one that didnt smell. Net result, is that whilst I can easily afford one, I dont have one...

    Just The Two Of Us

While I am reluctant at times doing the dishes by hand is very theraputic.  I am not sure why I just feel better afterwards, like I accomplished something.  You listen to the radio/internet and just dig in.  There is just two of us at home so there are not alot of...

I always do it by hand.

Its sort of my job at home. Sometimes my mom will do it if I am busy with something else or help with the drying or something. I have to do it by hand because we have no dishwasher. No, that isn't true. I am the dishwasher.

    By Hand

I have a dishwasher and it is over 1 year I haven't put it to use.  The reason I don't use it its because before the dishwasher gets filled it takes for ever + I like washing by hand cause it doesn't take long to do + love the feeling of warm water on my hands.

I don't really like using a machine when I can do it myself without too much effort. Call me old fashioned, I don't care.I think we should all wash dishes by hand, we are so spoilt these days.

    I AM The Dishwasher

I live in a country where dishwashers are rare (as they take up roughly half of the allotted kitchen space, so are redundant), but dish dryers are common (because of the high humidity). To be honest, I hate washing dishes, but it's certainly not the worst chore in the world. I...

    I Wash Dishes By Hand

It's somehow simpler than using the dishwasher. And it saves electricity and can use less water and gives a little exercise, compared to using a dishwasher.  I just have always been okay with and done washing dishes by hand.  I have lived in places with a built-in dishwasher...

    Tiny Kitchen

I have a tiny kitchen and almost no counter space. I use one side of the sink for clean and one side for dirty. I try to do my dishes each day, but my back always hurts from standing at the sink for very long. I wish I had room for a portable dishwasher. You actually use more...

When You Live Alone No Reason Not To

I live alone, so one meal doesn't really add up to much.  I am not a big fan of dirty dishes in a sink or dishwasher and it seems like such a waste to run it for just a few dishes.  So after dinner I will spend the few minutes cleaning up, but I will have to admit I let...

    I Wash Dishes By Hand

I like old style ways of doing things and washing dishes is no exception. I use soap, water, and a sponge to wash dishes.

    Not By Choice

I'd rather have a dishwasher, but hey, doing it by hand is better than having dirty dishes. :) I don't mind doing the dishes, it just takes time and is rough on my skin... plus my boyfriend has a habit of walking up behind me and grabbing me while I'm washing knives. I'm worried...

Don't Want A Dish Washer Thanks

I wash the dishes every night with my Husband. I really don't see the point of a dish washer, by the time you have stacked it, waited for it's cycle to complete, unloaded it and put the dishes away, you haven't saved any time anyway! Actually I like doing the pots with my Hubby...

It is almost a therapeutic act.

So relaxing to have my hands up to my wrists in the soapy warm water. I love to smell the lemony water and to scrub away the memories of meals to reveal a shiny clean plate, bowl etc Makes me smile

Limoges In The Dishwasher, I Think Not...

I wash my dishes by hand wearing gloves. I collect bone china cup and saucer sets for tea. My daily wear dishes are all china. Food just tastes better from a sterling fork. I save the stainless flatwear for guests.

    By Hand

I have always washed dishes by hand. Honesly I think a dish washer just doesn't do a great job. Typically you find bits of food still left on the dishes. I can't stand finding the dirty dishes in the cabinet. I know some people are ok with a tiny piece or something maybe even on...

    Involuntarily.

Living in a student residence it's not exactly as if there were any other options available. I don't mind it as much as I used to, especially because I got used to washing my dishes this way living in Costa Rica for a year before entering college. It's just so funny how people...

    It Makes Me Feel Good...

First, soak the dishes, the just wash away, letting your mind be calm and wander where it may. I generally use detergent, water, and a sponge to wash up (do the dishes). I don't know why, but I also love the feeling of cold water, whilst I'm wearing my rubber gloves =P If you...

I Always Have - Dishwasher Or Not

If and when I cook, I wash the dishes as I go. I usually end up with paper plates and disposable silverware because there is only one of me. There is no dishwasher in this apartment. However, the second floor has one installed and the rent upstairs is substantially higher ($900.0...

    It Gets Them Cleaner

Not only does it get them cleaner than a dishwasher does (in my opinion), but it's kind of a relaxing ritual for me. I have a window above my sink, so I just look out the window, daydream, and enjoy the feeling of warm water on my hands as I wash.

    Priority

One of the adorable qualities of my wife is that she is deliciously naive. When she started talking about a kitchen robot, we fantasized about it would cook, sweep the floor, do the beds and the laundry and of course, why not?, wash the dishes. When we got one, it did none of...
