I Watch Anime In Japanese

Anime dubs just sound awful. It is like a cheesy drama or something. Plus how can you turn down the allure of the Japanese language?

Just The Way I Like It

I will watch it either way (especially now that voice acting has improved dramatically over the years.) I am a huge anime fan and the older ones lost a lot in translation. However I love to watch in it's nattive language.

i love watching anime in Japanese because they change the American versions. sometimes they are subtle changes, sometimes they are not so subtle changes, because of what is considered appropriate for American audiences. It took me a while to get used to it, but I get to...

    English Dubs Are Usually Horrible

I admit, once in a while, I'll hear a dub that impresses me.  If anyone saw Ponyo, Cate Blanchett does a lovely job as a Sea Goddess...but otherwise, I'll always set the language to Japanese.  Voice actors over there will frequently attend school just for anime voice...

    How It Started...

I had watched anime before and liked it, but the first time I experienced the difference was when I watched the subbed 'Vampire Hunter D'  (original, not Bloodlust) after watching the dubbed... ouch!

    V.A. Bad = Seiyuu Good

Personally I can only take Dubs in small doses, if at all. This excludes Pioneer's dubbing to all its anime because Pioneer existed before the time of BAD voice acting.  Of course, when Pioneer was turned into "Geneon". Petrea Burchard, probably the best...

    I Abhor Dubs

Because anime exported to America often becomes relegated to "kids' TV" - despite the fanservice, the violence, the swearing, and the mature themes inherent in most anime - anime in America becomes censored, filled with horrible voice-acting, and on top of that fans of the...

    As many users have said.

I prefer anime in Japanese. It's way better in my opinion and English dub's don't sound as good. And another thing which is my opinion cx. I find Japanese voice's amazing :)

    Tried watching one in dubbed.

..literally gagged. Do all studios hire the same generic white people to play every single role or something? I mean, I swear they got the same guy to play half the dang cast. Dude just pinches his nose, or lowers his voice an octave and calls it a separate character? Pathetic...

    I Love Anime <3 <3

I've always been a huge anime fan. When I was a little girl, it started with Sailor Moon, which is still one of my favorites. Now I love Hayao Miyazaki's films. I love so many different anime, its ridiculous. FLCL is my all time favorite, although it's only 6 episodes long...

I think the industry of voice acting in Japan

is a bit ahead of some other places. The people have lots of schools for it and end up getting famous and popular through doing voice acting. There's more money in the business so it's quality might feel a bit better.

    I'd Rather Have Subtitles Thankyou.

I just like the japanese versions of anime because it's what they really meant to say. sometimes when it is dubbed in english they change it so it will fit into american tv standards.

I love how the Japanese voice actors put so much more effort in how they say things. It really helps to make the anime real and helps you to relate to the characters. Some English dubs I've heard are just awful! They really make you cringe and can really distract you from what's...

    It Helps In Learning Japanese.

I have watched many animes and i like them very much. I want to learn to speak in Japanese too so animes help me very much. Japanese  and English sub give me good education (i think), and now i know many different Japanese words. Even the song are so much help. Now i...

    Subs Over Dubs

For some reason, most animes have terrible voice actors when they're dubbed. I'd rather watch in the original japanese with subtitles.

    Anime And Manga

Ever since I was first introduced to anime, I have loved it. I started out with Dragonball Z, like most boys my age, and later moved on to more of a variety through Adult Swim and Toonami. The Summer before my Freshman year of high school, I started watching Naruto online. I was...

    Personally, I watch dubs first

for the sake of not having to read as much. It also feels like a downgrade when I end up not liking the dub as much. I've been studying Japanese for about five years now; three years on my own and two in a class. I've only seen improvements after taking it for a year in...

I find that the voices are so much better, and I don't mind the subs. It helps with learning Japanese as well, since I am studying the language. I find the English voices in anime to be annoying and they don't fit with the characters. BTW, my fav. anime series is Excel Saga <3...

    Japanese All The Way

I always watch anime in Japanese. I just can't stand dub, the English voices can be one (or more) of these: cheesy, unemotional, doesn't fit the character I can't take the anime seriously if it's dubbed..... Plus watching anime with ORIGINAL voice acting is always better. I...

The Way Its Meant To Be Watched

I love anime to death but some of the dubs are just god awful. The original Japanese versions convey much more emotion where as the dubs tend to be all monotone or just have awkward voice acting. Theres only 3 animes where i prefered the dubs to the subs and those are Code Geass...

    Well, though I agree

that latin-spanish dub is high quality(I'm chilean), nothing compares to watching a movie or a serie in their original language. Thats the only way to persive the original intention of whatever you are watching.

    Some People Just Fail.

Some voice actors just should stop. Or at least the casting director. If you watch some anime in English, you'll know what I mean. For instance: Code Geass. Lelouch and Suzaku's voices are flawless in English. Practically perfect. Whereas in Naruto, you cringe when some...
