    Going Up to the Mountain

I'm going up to the mountain to watch Perseids meteor shower. Hoping the clouds stay away enough to see a bit. It'll be dark enough there and if I'm lucky, maybe I'll even hear one. I'll continue story on my return.      I'm back and I did see a light...

    Going to the Royal Observatory

I have an opportunity to look through the telescope at the Royal Observatory this weekend. Really excited when I think about the others who have used it in the past.   Will post next week.

    Metoers and Camping.

We were not hopeful to see anything on Wednesday. The day started grey and cool and as we packed the car, the rain started falling gently on the garden. In as much as it was good news for the tomatoes, it was bad news for the gear we had left by the car as we loaded. The long...

    When My Son Asked...

When my son was still very young, we talked about meteor showers and I allowed him to stay up late late late to get the chance to watch. He asked me what they were. I talked to him about the science of meteor showers a little. Then, I shared something else with him. I told him...

It Is So Neat to Sit and Watch

During the great Lyrids, Geminids, Perseids  and  Leonids  showers, we go out and sit in the hot tub with a couple of bottles of Presecco and enjoy the show! It's always so beautiful and romantic. Even when it's cold as heck in December!

    An Evening With the Stars.

We arrived at Greenwich at 6.30 just as the moon was up. Luckily we had clear skies. After watching a planetarium show we went out to talk and chat with some of the astronomers and view various objects. The Pleiades cluster was beautiful as was the Orion Nebula. My Daughter was...

Would Like to Know What the Maximum Number of Leonid Meteors You Can See In 1 Hour Is.

Getting ready for the Leonids now. I have my low beam torch, chairs, thermos and camera. I doubt I'll get any good photo's. Might be interesting to see how many everyone can count. I thought an hour might be good.

    Oh Yes

I have watched a lot of meteor showers lol. This is one of the best summer - and not summer only - hobbies. This year I missed them, just like I missed a lot of other things - including the 4 seasons and many others. Quite a very interesting life I live recently. I don't...
