I Went In a Hot Air Balloon

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 90 People

I am biased in my love of this experience because this is was my wedding experience. We were married by the balloon pilot and then he took us/our families up (10 ppl total, plus the pilot).  We went with Sean Quigley of Balloons over Letchworth in September 2004.  He...

    Once In a Lifetime Opportunity

In the 6th grade I went to a very small school with only 5 teachers in my class. To get us motivated for the TAKS test they said they would get 3 hot air balloons out on the field and if we made commended on both tests we would get to ride it. I was in awe when I got there to get...

    Went Once

but it was tethered to the ground but did go pretty high.  It was cool and would be fun to do again sometime.

Ever since I was a little girl I've had a fear

of heights, but my oldest son wanted recently wanted to go on a hot air balloon, my other two boys didn't want to do it, my middle child doesn't like heights either, so I took a deep breath and went up with him, I had my eyes shut alot of the time and was squeezing his hand lol...

HEAVEN! Do It If You Get the Chance!

I have flown in various different types of commercial airplanes, single engine props, military transport planes, and several different types of helicopters - but there is nothing to match the sheer joy, peace, and beauty of a hot air balloon ride.  I only did it once...

I was part of a hot air balloon crew at the

annual local balloon fest. One year the scheduled sponsored rider failed to show up and I won a coin toss among the crew members to ride. I was afraid to move because the basket swayed around when so much as shifted my weight. When we landed we skimmed over a barbed wire fence...

    Just Up and Down

We were at my dad's employers annual corperate festival for employees and family and there was a balloon there giving rides. They just took us up for a few minutes and back down, we didn't go anywhere, didn't even release the rope attached to th ground but it was still cool

    Go If You Can

I started to crew for several balloon pilots because I needed a hobby. Then I bought my first one from a friend. It was such a rush, every weekend, sometimes four flights a weekend, we would go out. I flew over one marsh routinely. A red tailed hawk would announce his presence...

    An Autmn Float

Wife and I had a great experience in western Pa in mid October ... flying over the autumn landscape and scampering deer ... a reflecting pond where we caught our reflection in the water as we floated by. Although I am not a real fan of heights ... I found it was not a problem...

When I was doing a bit of research

before going on a vacation, I noticed that Hot Air Ballooning was a popular tourist attraction in Sweden. I’m not really sure that it was actually that popular, but it was one of those things that tourist websites like to show in online brochures. I was visiting a friend and...

    Up Up and Away

I have flown twice. The first time I was 12 years old and went up during our local county fair. George Jones was playing the grandstand when we lauched in front of a sold out crowd. I remember him announcing our names and the pilots name. We flew about 4 to 5 miles...
