I Went to New Orleans

1066 miles. 16 hours. 2 packs of cigarettes. And countless Red Bulls later me and my Dad arrived in New Orleans. The ride down was very uneventful. Just lots of interstate between WI and LA. I did think the arch in St. Louis was beautiful. We drove through the city at 12:30 am...

    Walked the Streets

My husband and I drove to New Orleans and spent just one night and one day.  It took about seven hours, I think.  It was worth the drive, though.  I ate special brownies on the way and was stoned the entire time.  We saw our favorite band live, then just...

Been twice, and love the atmosphere in the

French quarter (stayed in St Charles). If you're careful to avoid salubrious areas and stick to the main roads, it's safe. Curious to learn if it's still the same after the floods??

    So Many Times

I grew up in New Orleans and went to undergrad there.  Now, I often try to arrange conferences and meetings for work just so that I can have the excuse to go back to New Orleans.

    Phoenix Rising

I went to New Orleans in May for the Phoenix Rising Harry Potter conference and we had a masquerade ball there where I dressed as Louis - who can, after all, go to NOLA and NOT be an Anne Rice vamp! ;-)

    Katrina Responder

I went down right after Katrina hit. It was just unbelievable. To drive into a major city and see no lights at all, it just floored me. And then, when I went on a clean up crew a few months later, and you could see all the damage, and the car graveyards. And then, to top it all...

    Mothers Best Po'boys!

Mother's po'boy was one of the best tasting dishes I've ever had. If you ever get down there, make it a priority to go to Mother's at least once. I can't speak for the rest of their fare as my friend had some fried chicken which was just ok, but that po'boy...oh and ask for...
