. We went outside the house,

onto the street, other kids streets and woods and parks and ponds. We walked and cycled and played football. We fell out and fought and made up again. We went home for lunch and tea and Mum asked if we had enjoyed ourselves and told us off for being mucky. We had adventures...

I remember playing rundown in my neighbors

front yard, friends knocking on my door, asking if my brother and I could come out and play. In the summertime, we would have super soaker fights (those big plastic waterguns with large water reservoirs) and then have lunch on the deck. Nowadays kids are cooped up in the house...

This was in the early to mid 90's,

so things like internet, cell phones, etc. were not very well known back then. I would go out and play games with the neighborhood kids and stay out past dark. You can't really do that nowadays because even small towns are becoming dangerous. But it brings back nice memories.

I played hard and have scars to prove it.

Every scar has a memory. There is one on my left elbow that I got from playing basketball. I tried to save the ball from going out and fell. I had more skin on the pavement than I had on my elbow. I have a scar on my left inner thigh from attemtping to hop a chainlink fence. I...

I also was outside all the time

when kid, playing in the garden or in the street in front of the house. Vacations and all summer were spent by my grandparents who were living in the countryside. Parents and grandparents did not like to have us inside home, except for rainy days and the coldest period of the...

Oh, these days, I remember it

so clearly. Playing hide and seek, playing angels-and-demons (don't ask), chasing after a car to out run it or maybe our brother at the bike, our laughter and smiles as a family, those times when it's 9:30 in the morning then we get inside our homes and watch horror with swiss...

    There was no "going outside"

as a kid; it was more of being outside until allowed to "come in". :-) Getting a drink meant turning on the hose. My favorite activities involved naming cloud shapes, riding my bike, exploring the woods and using "Donald Duck" orange juice cans (bonus if you remember these...

I was that barefoot kid running around with

Until probably the age of 10 my imagination,

my dog, and (luckily) safe surroundings could keep me entertained for a few hours at a time. I had no siblings near my age. I remember enjoying being left alone with my thoughts in the backyard. There was a tree swing, sand box, a variety of small toys in a shed, and a grape...

I can honestly say I am glad social media was

not around when I was a child. I left the "drama" at school. my home life was my safe place. I went fishing with my daddy, I played tag in our front yard, I caught lightning bugs in mason jars, I played "hide ans seek", I had fun and wasnt addicted to a phone.
