I Will Not Discuss Personal Stuff With My Parents

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 816 People

I won't talk to my mom about some topics because I know from past experience that what is said between her and I does not remain there. She has friend, her best friend, who she has known for over 30 years, and she tells her EVERYTHING. I have known this woman pretty much my...

I can't discuss personal things with my parents

ever, when I try to with my mom she just nods and doesn't say anything I believe she just thinks I'm being dramatic or lying. I defiantly can't tell anything to my father he never understands and he gets mad at me and yells at me saying very negative things, it only makes me...

    I Don't Think I Ever Will

I've never really been one to talk about personal stuff with anybody. Even with this site I have a hard time, but this story is about my parents, not my friends here at EP. Let's cover my father first. He's more of an aquaintence. We don't really know each other at all. So...

    Part In Part

I very much used to feel immense guilt as a child if I did not admit everything to my mother, there was that form of emotional control she was able to retain in which I even felt guilty going on school trips, feeling that she would not have that day out too and would be stuck at...

    It Never Helps

I love my parents, and it's really in their best interests to be kept in the dark. Depending on what I tell them they either worry about me, or try to stop me doing it.

My parents or as I call them my carrier

and donor have never been a big part of my life even as a child. So now I'm an adult they are a much smaller part of my life almost nonexistent. My carrier feels we live different lifestyles so all she needs from me is my money and my donor well eh. So having a personal...

    They Just Don't Care

They just don't care. I've found that out from experience. I've tried to tell them things, but it always goes in one ear, and out the other. With my older sister, they are totaly completly different. But, I suppose they think that men aren't supposed to show, let alone talk...

Your parents just never understand you.

And when you try explaining to them you just break down and cry and walk away.

    I Refuse to

The last time I discussed anything personal with my parents, they blamed me for it and did not help me, when what happened wasn't my fault.  That's why I refuse to tell them anything that's personal.  Also, my dad isn't around...so, if anything, it's pretty...

My dad always finds the negative part of

everything, and if my mom disapproves of something, she forbids me from doing it. the first time i had a crush on a guy, i told her about it and i guess she was cool with it but she didn't give me much useful advice and she always got all suspicious and weird as soon as i got...

    Slap In the Face..

It's like a slap in the face when i tell my mother things; she will literally use the SAME INFO and throw it back in my face at a later time. That's why i find it better to record it in a journal-less stressful. I just deal with MY problems.

Learned That Lesson a Long Time Ago...

I don't tell my parents anything, other than the bare minimum canned responses. Its not that I do anything that I wouldn't want normal parents to know (as a matter of fact, I live a quite borning life), its just that everytime I've ever told them anything, its gotten thrown back...

    My mom always asked me

if I liked any boys. Of course I liked boys. Man, did I like boys! But I wasn't going to tell her! She kept asking me, and I told her "no" so many times that one day, she asked me if I liked girls.

I do not talk about sex with my parents.

They don't even know I have sexxxxx. I'm old enough but they don't know. I don't think I would tell them. I had gotten in trouble for sending nude pictures off to my ex boyfriends at the time years ago. I don't think they know I have sexxxxx.

    Everybody says tell your parents,

they need to know. They have a right to know. You are their child, they are your parents. But I don't want to tell them. Yeah they probably have a right to know, but they don't have to know. It is not going to kill them. It is, after all you know, my life. Therefore, I will...

    Never Did, Never Will.

I don't trust them not to tell toher family. I don't trust them on not judging me. I don't trust them on taking me seriously, helping me in any what way, or even listening. So I'll help myself, and do what i think I need to do. I don't need your input, nor have I ever.
