I like Halloween because the veil is the thinnest then and the loved ones I've lost feel somehow closer then. I love the weather here in CA that time of year too. It's cold, crisp and sometimes, if I'm lucky, it rains and puts a wonderful scent in the air. I love dressing up as the witch I am and not feeling out of place. I really enjoy handing candy out to all the kids who are still young enough to enjoy the wonder and imagination of the night before they turn into the typical teen who thinks they are now too old for this sort of thing. I like the fall decorations and otherworldly atmosphere, like disbelief has been suspended for this night. And of course the excuse to throw a get together with friends is awesome too! Halloween, Samhain or whatever you call it this night of the year is one of my very favorites.
