I was in Florida. Actually I was standing in a line, ready to board a flight to go home. My husband was living and working down in Palm Beach Gardens at the time. I had had surgery and I was down there for a check up.
There was a tv on one of the posts for the passengers to watch. It looked like there was an accident...then while we were all standing there watching another plane swooped in and plowed thru the other tower.
Everyone was in shock and no one knew what to do.
It turns out that the President was in the state of Florida. Which is why I think it was minutes that our airport was swarming with armed soldiers who herded all of us up to the front of the airport where we had to line up, showed our ID's then told to get out of the airport.
I was lucky in the respect that I was able to call my husband and ask him to turn around and come pick me up.
I spent the rest of the day glued to the TV, crying. It was a horrible day.
It took me a week before I was able to get home. There were no flights, buses, trains or available cars for rent.
On the plus side I WAS in Florida and was able to spend the week floating around in my sister's pool.
My heart was with all the families who lost a loved one.
