Introducing the Experience Project Blog Discovery Network
The EP Blog Discovery Network is a way for bloggers to reach new and passionate readers that care about the topics they write about. It leverages Experience Project's active community of over 1 million people to drive readership and conversation in participating blogs.
Experience Project is the first social experience website; a place where members can anonymously read and share stories and ideas about those topics that matter most to them, and meet other people that share those same interests. The site is organized by Experience Groups (e.g., "I Am a Mother" or "I Want to Lose Weight"), and within the groups members can read stories, participate in forums, view videos, create polls, and more.
To enable blog discovery from the Group page, a new tab featuring "Related Blogs" will be added, and within that tab members will be able to read participating blogs. For example, the "I Am a Mother" group may have 10 Mom blogs that are featured, and members can read any of those blogs that interest them (with the option to subscribe to that blog and comment on posts).
How will Users Find my Blog?
Users can find your blog through three different ways. The first way is through the group(s) that the blog is affiliated to - e.g., a series of mom blogs will be featured on the "I Am a Mother" group page. The second way is through top-level topic categories (e.g., romance, health, friends and family, pets, etc.) - e.g., blogs that are affiliated to the "I Want to Lose Weight," "I Have Insomnia," and "I Like to Exercise" would all be featured in the "Health" category. Finally, all blogs on the site will be featured in one main blogs page, allowing for visibility to all Experience Project users.
Additionally, each blog will have its own dedicated page within Experience Project where members can follow the blog, subscribe to the RSS feed directly, and click through to the most interesting posts. The EP blog page will have permanent links back to the original block providing additional traffic benefits.
What Do I Get Out of Participating?
The Blog Discovery Network is a way for you to increase your traffic and blog subscribers by reaching out to a very targeted group of users. It is also a way to earn recognition for your hard work.
Experience Project users are avid content contributors and love to keep the conversation going through a story's comments. We also expect that their enthusiasm and friendliness will translate to the comments on blog posts that they like, helping you further increase the conversation in your community of readers.
What Does Experience Project Get Out of My Participation?
Our main goal at Experience Project is to provide the best experience possible for our members. We believe that by showcasing high-quality relevant content to them, we make our community more interesting for our members and help them spend more time with us every day.
What do I Have to Do To Participate?
Joining the program is easy, and can be done in two easy steps. First, you need to submit your blog to Experience Project and select the most relevant Experience Group for us to pair your blog with. This will allow us to showcase your blog to those users that have expressed their interest in the topics you write most about. This also allows us to maintain quality control on all the blogs that are participating on the site.
Second, you need to add the EP Blog Discovery widget to your blog. This is a small snippet of code that you can easily add much like you would embed a video from YouTube. This enables us to communicate to your readers that you are being showcased on EP. In the future, the widget may also be able to showcase any awards you get on our site as well as the most popular posts and stories relevant to your blog.
Once the widget has been installed, your blog should become live on EP within the next 24 hours.
Anything else I need to know?
The Blog Discovery Network is still in test mode, so please bear with us as we iron out any kinks. Please send us any and all feedback - we're listening and trying to make this the best experience for you and for our members.
You can get started by signing up your blog here.
