Creation Cocoon for Girls is a not for profit organization dedicated to empowering girls ages 8-18 by developing their individual creativity.
Our vision is to equip girls with creative tools and information that encourage empowered choices for life Our mission is to provide a safe space for girls to develop their individual creativity and build self-esteem.
Creation Cocoon focuses on building the self esteem of low and middle income girls through exposure to and development of traditional arts skills with an urban contemporary flair including: sewing, crochet / knitting, creative writing, jewelry making, bath & body creations etc. The programs are designed to encourage girls to make decisions that encourage positive academic achievement and prevent early parenting.
Our objectives are to:
  • Build self esteem through
  • development of individual creativity
  • Prevent early parenting for under age girls
  • Provide exposure to a variety of traditional arts styles
  • Develop high-reaching academic goals and standards for life
  • Prevent violence by learning how to create individual peace
  • Instill frugal economic principles
  • Innovatively use and recycle resources
  • Increase cultural, global and environmental awareness
Programs & Activities at Creation Cocoon:
Caterpillar Club (ages 8-10) - The Caterpillar Club is geared to elementary aged girls who LOVE being girls. The projects are age appropriate and challenge girls to develop foundational skills both in creative activities, but also in their educational and social skills
Cocoon Girls Club (ages 11-14) – Cocoon Girls Club is geared toward middle/junior high school aged girls who are interested in learning how to become women. We focus on developing intermediate creative skills while setting goals to meet their educational desires and expanding their social development.
Butterflyy Girls (ages 15-18) – Butterflyy Girls is geared toward girls who are in high school and entering womanhood. While working on developing expert creative skills, participants are taught how to navigate life experiences with accountability, purpose and finesse. Participants also learn how to teach and facilitate workshops for the Caterpillar and Cocoon Girls Clubs.
