Beginning in your 20s regular breast self-examination is strongly recommended – ask your doctor to teach you how to perform a self-exam. Additionally you should ask your doctor for a clinical examination at least once every 3 years. After the age of 40, an annual mammogram is recommended. Women at higher risk may need earlier and more frequent screenings – ask your doctor for more information
