MEDIA ALERT: DoSomething! & Experience Project Team Up to Fight Dating Violence
March 1, 2009
Who: www.DoSomething.org http://www.DoSomething.org (a site that empowers teens to make a difference) and www.ExperienceProject.com
http://www.ExperienceProject.com (the largest site for anonymously connecting and sharing common experiences)
What: DoSomething and Experience Project have teamed up on a social networking campaign to educate and empower teens, tweens and parents to stop violence in young relationships. The groups say that one in three teens have been in an abusive relationship—either physically, emotionally or online—and this often is where the cycle of violence in adult relationships begins. The goal of the “1 in 3” Dating Bill of Rights is to give kids the power to identify abusive behaviors early on and publicly pledge to hold themselves to a higher standard of how they deserve to be treated.
By visiting the below-listed Experience Project link, anyone can sign and share the 1 in 3 Dating Bill of Rights to stop the cycle of violence and get involved in making a difference now, and for future generations of teens. The Bill is also available as a Facebook App, which members can post, share and even change their profile photos to the “1 in 3” image to show their commitment and support!
