MEDIA ALERT: ExperienceProject.com Launches TwitCause to Build Awareness of Social Causes Via Twitter
August 6, 2009
Who: ExperienceProject.com (EP), the world’s largest online forum for connecting and sharing life experiences, and The V Foundation for Cancer Research, one of the nation’s leading cancer research fundraising organizations.
What: ExperienceProject.com and the V Foundation are launching a new campaign called TwitCause that utilizes Twitter’s global reach and viral sharing capabilities to promote social causes. TwitCause harnesses the power of Twitter allowing users to spread the word and aid in fundraising to support good causes via personal Tweets.
Every Thursday, TwitCause will have a new cause to support and will ask supporters who follow TwitCause http://twitter.com/TwitCause to retweet the cause on their personal Twitter pages to show support for the particular charity. The tweets will contain links to the website of the charity so users can simply click on the link to donate funds.
TwitCause followers can also nominate other nonprofits and social causes they want to see supported on Twitter. Going forward, TwitCause hopes large brands will want to sponsor causes as well, matching tweets with dollar amounts in support.
When: The campaign officially began August 6, 2009.
