I pick books more by genre and by the author's reputation based on their previous work.
Cover design does not make or break it for me. I've seen many covers of romance novels that look pretty interesting, what with the woman with the low cut dress and Fabio behind her with his hands all over her. Still never been interested enough to actually read one of those damned things, however. I want my literature to be deeper than that. So I'll stick to my sci fi or historical fiction, thank you. LOL
