3 1/2 + 2 1/2 + 5 1/3 + 1 2/3 =? 12 12/12? am i right?
3 1/2 + 2 1/2 + 5 1/3 + 1 2/3 =
convert all the mixed numbers to fractions
7/2 + 5/2 + 16/3 + 5/3
I first add 7/2 + 5/2 = 12/2
and then I add 16/3 + 5/3 =21/3
so now we have 12/2 + 21/3 now we find a common denominator
so now we have to find a common denominator for 12/2 + 21/3
so
2,4,6,8,10,12
3,6,9,12
12 is the closet
so we times 12/2 by 6 and 21/3 by 4
now we got 72/12 + 84/12
now we add = 156/12
now we divide 12/156 = 12 12/12 am I right?
I think i made a mis calculation, i will re correct the text later.

You could just say
3+2+5+1=11
1/2+1/2=1+1/3+2/3=2
11+2=13Like (2)

6 is the closest. Look at your selection for common denominators again.
12/2 x 3 = 36/6 and 21/3 x 2 = 42/6
36/6 + 42/6 = 78/6
6 into 78 goes 13 times.
13 x 6 = 78
Your answer should be 13.Like (1)

11 24/12 or 11 4/2, or 11 6/3 is also correct....

It's so much simpler to just add the whole numbers and then add the fractions' sum to the whole number sum and the answer is 3+2+5+1= 11. 1/2+1/2+1plus 1/3+2/3=1 Therefore,11+ 1+1=13 or 12+12/12 which =12+1 which equals 13.

I'm going to show how my mind decided to solve this:
3 1/2 + 2 1/2 + 5 1/3 + 1 2/3
(3 1/2 + 2 1/2) + (5 1/3 + 1 2/3)
(6) + (7)
7 + 6 = 13Like (1)

Well, 12 12/12 actually is 13...I don't know whether the answer is what you said, but I do know that 12/12 = 1and 12 + 1 = 13
