Resolved Question

A challenge to you...?

I challenge you to think upon these letters in you mind as though there were in front of you on a table and you were looking down on them. Find a quiet place where you will not be interupted for at least one hour. This is your goal, to focus on these letters for 1 hour without breaking focus on these letters.

J E S U S

See how long you can concentrate on those letters before something tries to grab your attention away. It's a lot harder than you think. It took me months to concentrate on these letters before other thoughts were cast into my mind breaking my focus.

What to look for while doing this;
suddenly you find yourself in deep thought about an activity you like to do regularily and your attention is broken from the letters. You body suddenly feels to BIG for the room your in. This can be quite scary but trust that everything is going to be ok.

Final Goal: You see a two fanned windmill circling in your mind, surounded by the feeling of peace .

I've done it.

I have a better idea. Instead of staring at the letters, do as the person's name that the letters spell would want. Go out and help others have better lives. You will find peace and happiness in that, not sitting on your behind.

Huh? Who has an uninterrupted hour - not me - I have children and a home, etc... plus even if I am completely alone my mind NEVER focuses on one thing for more than a minute or 2...

Now, I will say that I try to keep my entire life focused on JESUS - the letters as a whole - the PERSON, the Son of God... but what you are talking about - again I will say this:

HUH??

Oh no... another one of you. Where do you guys come from? Under rocks? No thank you on the whole J E S U S thing. I'd rather stare at roadkill for an hour, it's much more interesting to try and decipher the body parts smooshed on the road.

Not very functional your better of reading a book and I don't believe anywhere the other book has ever mention that or are you starting a new cult .

Then let us stand on one leg and moo for two hours , that would be more functional it would implies your very malleable and should go see a doctor that does the head .

You have done a good teaching work. But I think to concentrate on the letters JESUS is not so good as to concentrate on His divine qualities.

Undoubtedly self-hypnosis. 'idolno1' if you have problems in your life then from this suggestion of yours they are manifestly self created. Enjoy your depressions!

May I suggest, as an alternative, you concentrate on these letters for a few minutes? G-E-T-A-L-I-F-E W-E-I-R-D-O!

about five minuets before I lost it. :)

a few observations
- jesus could be shortened to jes
- there's an element of dr sus(e) in the name
- the word 'us' is contained within

I'm afraid it wasn't long before my mind wandered to the theological - my favorite activity to be sure - and something you can easily be lost in - scary and big.

but I'm afraid to say no windmills where perceived - and no more than the usual calm and peace. :)

thank you for the exercise. ^^

Meditation training for christians?

I challenge anyone to do the same thing but with any visualization, start at 20 minutes as that is the appropriate amount of time for someone who doesnt even know what it is they are doing, as the majority of the comments suggest.

Hows this, i challenge you to imagine yourself in a setting that you find relaxing for 20 minutes a day. A beach, a forest grove, whichever.

These are techniques one practices after they have learned to keep their mind still, it is much easier to start focusing on breathing then working your way up to details in the waves.

After you get good at the meditation/ visualization techniques there are plenty of others that you can do for different attribute such as better your memory.
