I guess I think being loyal to your employer means something but he makes a valid point when he starts talking numbers.

How many employers are loyal to employees now-a-days?

sounds like a well thought out plan. The only loyalty you owe a company is to do your job well and to fulfill your contract

In the end, the employer will cut you if it means saving his job. Why be loyal to someone like that?

I can see where you're coming from but for me this employer has been through every hard time of my life with me. It feels like a dysfunctional family complete with the family gossip, family racist, etc. I do love the company I work for and again for me it's 18 years of my life

If you can make more elsewhere, why stagnate in the same spot just because you feel loyal to your employer? You're saying that he/she wouldn't cut you if it was necessary?

Yes, I believe in it. Loyalty should not a one way street. A loyal employer should see your potential and reward you with a competative incentive. If he refuses to do so, he deserves to loose you.

IF YOU THINK ABOUT YOUR EMPLOYER EVRYTIME THEN YOU CANNOT GET SUCCESS... SO THINKING FOR YOURSELF SOMETIMES WILL TAKE YOU TO PROFITS...

That's his mindset and in the 7 years I have known him he has worked for 3 companies, always earning more with each move. He is an incredibly smart guy.
