A lot of people are turned off by religion because they don't believe in hell, what is schizophrenia then?
Isn't it demon possession? How can people be turned off by it if the proof is in the pudding? Plus God doesn't want to send people to hell but to save them from it. Well I was diagnosed as schizophrenic when I was 19 I was hearing voices that told me that I had sold my soul and that they were god plus over the years my diagnosis was changed to schizoaffective disorder which is a combo of bipolar and schizophrenia. I now have peace thanks to God but believe me schizophrenia is demon possession. I didn't know that so many of you didn't know this.

I dont believe its a demon possession. It's a mental disorder, like anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, and many others. Our brains are sensitive and quirky things.

There are such things that's why they have titles and not just none existing.There are many imbalances in peoples brains and drinking and drugs do not help with these conditions.You don't have to believe but they do exist so that's reality.Like (1)

The voices that people hear are demonic voices I would know, plus every schizophrenic that I've talked to heard the same things as I have. It was no coincidence that we all claimed to have sold our souls. I know its scary I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Thanks to God well if you had God in your life you wouldn't say it has any thing to do with a demon or possession.For with God we are protect against such things.

Actually I'm turned off religion because the only evidence for it is schizophrenics saying "My voices said this, believe me!" and the believers end up sounding like they're schizophrenic too.
I know why you think what you do; no-one is more Buddhist than me when I'm manic but I'm smart enough to realise that this isn't because Tara is intervening in my life and guiding me down my karmic path removing obstacles to bodhsatvahood as she goes and showing me my true destiny and it's not because I'm more in touch with my buddha-nature it's because I'm manic. Ironically I know this because of my buddhist practice because the more I meditate on it the more I grew to realise that actually I was just ill.
I know how real it all seems and especially how real it feels and how satisfying it is having the feeling of having a deity in contact with you and that feeling of being looked after and protected and the sense of peace but it's all bollocks.
Either that or you're all mad, I'm totally sane and Tara is my protector and she only cares about me because if she cared about you she'd be in your life too clearing obstacles and giving you peace and your garden too would be full of prayer flags.Like (1)

by reading other peoples comments and your replies to it, it seems almost like your mind has been made up about what schizophrenia is and that nobody can differ from your opinion. so i urge you to please allow others' opinions as it's only the right thing to do if you ask such a question. my friend is schizophrenic, and he did not hear what you say all people you know including yourself hears. i used to hear voices and sometimes still do- and they dont say what you say your voices are telling you. you see, as some other user said earlier, it's an imbalance in the brain. it's no demon- and the reason i can say this so boldly is because my friend who is schizophrenic happens to be very spiritual and religious- whenever i had troubles, he would offer guidance from the Bible- and this in itself would say that the voices are demons. also, you say that the medication helps but God helps mostly if you turn to him... no demons would then be living inside you that would make it necessary for you to take medications if God is in your life- they would scatter at the mere presence of God.
so to answer your question- schizophrenia is a chemical imbalance in the brain- and has absolutely nothing to do with demon possession. research schizophrenia and demon possession seperately- and you will pretty much find that you're quite mistaken
and yes, many people are turned off religion because they fear an eternity in hell, but it's only a drop from the pool of all the other reasons people are turned off by religion.

You make some good points, I've always wondered if all schizophrenics had the same or different voices like if some could even hear angels rather than demons, it is a huge topic but a lot of schizophrenics do become avid Christians and in time God can and does replace the voices giving us peace this brings me the fragrance of life.

my friend has been on meds for YEARS now, and he still needs them, despite being religious and spiritual. some cases of schizophrenia does not last forever, just like most cases are only brought on when people are in their 30s- so maybe thats where you get the notion that God takes the voices away. all i know is that schizophrenia is a chemical imbalance in the brain and not at all demon possession, so do not feed this garbage to anybody else please because its a serious mental condition; and religion turns many poeople off for many different reasons- and the two have nothing to do with each other. please continue to seek peace from the higher power, but also stop telling yourself that there are demons living inside you, and life might become a bit easier to understand for you. you have a mental condition- you're not possessed. love and light, lotus

in my YEARS of studying psychology it was never pointed out for me that schizophrenia is a demonic possesion..
it seems that the demon is allergic to Clozapine, Geodon, Seroquel, Risperdal, Zyprexa, Abilify,.....

Those medications are helpful but are just a band aid that heals the brain they do not take away the voices. That is what they don't teach you in college.

excuse me missy,if you were actually diagnosed by schizophrenia you cannot get past it by your own.. either you diagnosed yourself by reading a forum on google,or your doctor is a complete waste of life.. please oh please don't tell me about the things they don't teach me in college..i'm telling you about the things they don't teach you in church.

I'm turned off by religion and god because if you really look at what it's all about you see that god was created in mans image and religion created to reflect the ideals of the ignorant. The sooner people realize what religion is, the sooner the world will get better.
