A Semenya Question?

By now Every body knows Semenya The Woman that won the 800 meters in Berlin, There are a lot of Questions And testing going around, But what I do not Understand is why are they making it a race issue, The are even saying here in South Africa That white people do not want to see black people progressing? I think that is untrue, Black people are progressing more and more every day, And why are there no issues about that. They also say if it was a white person there would not have been any query's about her gender, I am starting to think that her family and others that are making this accusations are wrong and owns the majority of whites an apology, A lot more whites have been disqualified for numerous reasons, and I didn't care if she was a he or what ever till they start calling every one white racist. what is our take on this matter and do you think her statements, fans, family's are correct?

People are always to quick to play the race card. They somehow think that by declaring racism that people will feel guilty and pay attention. Just like that idiot professor at Harvard. Scream racism and everyone wants to get involved, even if the person is wrong.

I don't know much about her or the incident but I do know there is a witch hunt for raceists and a lot of people are wrongly accused.

A lot of people who have felt the brunt of racism (or any form of bigotry actually) often develop an extreme form of hypersensitivity towards it. They see it when it isn't there. They see it where it was an accident. They become paranoid about it. Which quickly bugs everyone else, because then you have paranoid hysteria on one extreme, as well as the ignorant bigots on the other extreme. It makes it feel like chaos to actually try solving anything.

I think her family, like many blacks and other minorities sometimes, are overreacting by dragging racism into it. I'm sure there's a few racists who'll use this whole controversy to say something stupid. There always is. But since that's not the point of these tests, and since there's far better ways to deal with bigots, I think it only obscures things making it confusing, to bring [racism] up.

Personally I hope the tests turn out ok, because she seems like an awesome athlete and like her success has a good effect on a struggling country. Also it's inspiring how she came from a life that's pretty hopeless (poverty, etc) and has worked hard past her differences (not fitting in, ostracization, playing among boys, etc) to succeed so far at something. I find that inspiring. It would be such a let down if they decide that because of something she can't control (her genetic make up) she wouldn't be able to compete anymore. I wish her the best. And I love the fact she's accomplished so much for herself, her family and her country.
